I’m sure this is listed out there specifically but figured I’d shoot a more recent thread to address it.

Recommended set breakdown for a 10k stack 20 player tourney with blinds starting at 25/50? Re-buys for half usually occur, max of maybe 2/3 of the field and the same goes for add-one. Re-buys of identical starting stack and add-ons are half only allowed once. I have some figured on my end and wanted to see if they match up with what most have been going with...

Starting with the @BGinGA preferred stack of 12/12/5/6, I’ve got

$25/$100/$500$1000/$5000: 250/300/200/200/50

Let me know what you guys have for similar setups. 90% of our tourneys end up with 5k starting but I’d rather be on the safe side and always be ready for our 10k starts.

20 players x T20K stacks (12/12/5/6/2) with re-buys and color-ups:

240 x T25
240 x T100
100 x T500
150 x T1000
70 x T5000
-------------
800 chips

Expanding to also cover 30 players x T25K stacks (8/8/4/7/3) with re-buys and color-ups:

240 x T25
240 x T100
120 x T500
240 x T1000
150 x T5000
10 x T25000
-------------
1000 chips

Just gonna echo the desperate need to sticky some of the knowledge that the veterans like @BGinGA have dropped so stuff doesn't get asked repeatedly.
I would love to see @BGinGA throw a thread out there that has all ideal starting stacks for one and two table games with each common starting stack. I think it would be hugely beneficial for those trying to build their tourney sets and structure appropriately!

This.

I myself was searching for advice on a tourney and was simply amazed at how many times the same conclusion was reached - follow BGinGA's advice (albeit with room for changes to suit the specific needs of the players). It was just inefficient to sieve through so many threads looking for the answer.

You can save $$ and improve flexibility by dropping the unnecessary T25, T100, and T500 chips, and adding to your T1000 and T5000 totals.

Use T1000s for color-ups, and use T5000s for re-buys and larger starting stacks if desired.
