I need 10 more to finish a rack but I'd like to have spares too. I'm happy to pay for dirty chips! Thanks!

I should be able to help you out, Ive got a few racks of California Bell $1s in different condition (all cleaned, though), although I'm pretty busy until the weekend. Also, for the $1 chips I have, there are two slightly different shades of blue and also different thickness of chips. In the pic below, the barrels, L to R, are (all unoiled):
  • Thin chips, both darker blue & lighter blue (easily fit 21 chips to a barrel in a 66.7mm rack)
  • Lighter blue (fit 20 to a barrel in a 66.7 mm)
  • Darker blue (fit 20 to a barrel in a 66.7 mm) [EDIT: I had the light & dark backwards in my original post.]
I would also be interested to trade for any really thin $1 chips you might have for thicker $1 chips of mine, either the darker blue or lighter blue shades.

OK, terrific. I am happy to try and work out helping you get a conformed set. I will get some pics of mine tomorrow and PM them to you so we can compare.

These are awesome. We need a sticky at the top of the forums with this picture. Probably once a week, I’ll see somebody describe their light-to-moderately casino-used chips as “bicycle tires.” You know, chips that are clearly used, but they still look decent in a rack, and most of them will probably still stand on edge with a little effort? I want to scream at them - THOSE AREN’T BICYCLE TIRES!
THESE ARE BICYCLE TIRES!!!!!

Thanks! I think so too. Although some of these were warped, dirty, bicycle tires when I got them, since flattened and cleaned -- the difference is night and day.

LOL. True.

In comparison of all the used Paulson casino chip sets all over the world, there are probably only a handful of other casinos where the chips were used as long as the California Bells in circulation that they wore down to this level of bicycle tires. (If I picked out the thinnest chips, I think I can get 22 to fit in a barrel of 66.7mm). But there are not too many casinos where super thin chips are available in full rack quantities. PCA comes to mind -- some of the primary $1 and $5s were worn pretty thin. So I'll generally give people a pass when describing chips as "bicycle tires" -- there are different levels and opinions. But in general, I agree, bicycle tires won't stand on edge with any effort.
