Terrible fold on misread (1 Viewer)

Tbh, there's not much about any of those plays I like.

Preflop - 4x raise is ok

Flop - check is fine, with intent to check-raise. Don't like the check-call, however. Smells of FPS.

Turn -- check is questionable, as I don't want to risk it checking around with the club draw out there. Maybe if you ~know~ button is betting and plan to bomb a big check-raise. But as played, your check-raise amount is way too small.

River - check is fine, but no way I'm folding. Check-call is best.

So here's the background: Villain is a pretty bad player, super predictable and no poker face, someone you just play straight up and not get too tricky on because you really don't have to, he's not going to call much or see a lot of rivers if he doesn't have something pretty decent.

After the raise on the turn, he tanked for about a minute then asked "if I fold, you show?", which I answered "sure", hoping that he'd take that as a sign of weakness... and it worked, he reluctantly called after another minute, saying "I've got to see one more".

WHAT am I supposed to put him on there? Immediately I put him on QJ at best, flush draw at worst, but he's not someone who is comfortable with big bets so it seems like 2 pair.

Here's the other misread: as soon as the river was out he glowed in relief. Seeing that, I checked, and again his face lit up. His hands were shaking hard, his leg was jumping, you could see that he was trying to be methodical and control himself while getting his chips together, then gave up on that and confidentlu prounounced "all in".

WHAT am I supposed to gather from that??

I instantly folded my hand face up, said "you're boat is good", and convinced him to pull his hand out of the muck, which was A friggin 6 off.... :cautious: :banghead:

The thing is, he really believed his hand improved, he thought his weak ace was now AQ, and I don't think he ever put me on anything better than an ace, maybe he somehow thought I had a counterfitted A8... who knows. The irony is that tt was definitely not a bluff, but that was the only way he wins the hand!

It's also worth mentioning UTG is much more experienced and quite loose, and I was expecting him to call my raise, more so than BTN
