We're talking about vacationing there in the spring. It would be a 30th anniversary vacation.

Anyone been to the resort? The casino? experiences? thoughts?

Thanks

B

Never been to Hard Rock but Punta Cana is on my never again list. Spent more time in the bathroom than I did on the beach. Don't drink the water. :vomit:

Went for spring break so my experience was likely a bit difference than yours would be but for what I imagine I’d like my 30th ann. to be I’d pass.

This seems more like a 18 y o Dos Equis guzzling area than a 30th anniversary destination. I think this is where our oldest son went for spring break 2 years ago. I’m surprised you are thinking Mexico. I have a theory you were served bad alcohol (as in wood alcohol) when you got really sick at that tequila event a few years ago. Unfortunately that happens down there, sometimes following up with the passed out tourist getting robbed. I know I sound like a conspiracy theorist but I was recently reading about it.

We went last year, though it was with my wife’s company and they had the resort almost completely filled and to ourselves. It was probably a very different experience than being there on your own, so I don’t know what kind of crowd you’d be dealing with.

I really liked the resort, there was a main building with a corridor (think they call it the Blvd?) with most of the restaurants, bars, casino, Spa, etc. Not Vegas level, but still pretty nice. All the food we had was really good. Didn’t get sick at all, but didn’t drink the water! Presidente beer the whole time, it’s pretty much water anyway. The rooms were awesome, service was good, and there were lots of bars so we never had to go far for a drink. The beach was beautiful- white sand and clear water, until the day we left there was a big seaweed wash up. Glad we didn’t have that the whole time.

I didn’t play poker at all, I did check out the room but I’m having trouble picturing it. I think there were a few tables with one game going, part of the casino separated by a rail. There was a standard sports book. Table games - we played craps a couple times, so there was at least one table, maybe two. Handlefull of BlackJack and similar games. Lots of slots and electronic Roullette and BlackJack.
