I've always thought one of the fun parts of designing a custom set was creating stunning edge spot designs. Never thought I'd ever consider doing solids.

Now that I'm actually working on a design for my first custom set in earnest, I'm strangely intrigued by the the notion of solids. The thought I'm toying with might play better with solids... and the costs savings is never a bad thing. Nevertheless, edge spots keep beckoning me like a siren song as well. The stress of first world problems. :)

Anyway, does anyone have some killer, inspirational custom sets done as solids that will give me the confidence to go that route? Love to see some cool, custom solids examples.

I'm working on a solid tournament set. All THC with hi Def colors. So far...Arc Yellow, Navy, Fuscia and a green that has eluded me! Good luck!

Designing a really nice solid chip set with inlays is one of the most difficult chipping challenges, which I think is why you don't see too many solid sets, compared to sets with spots. The inlay design either has to be monochrome - simple and classic (like the Harrow Club example above) or just really stellar, and subtlety highlight/complement each chip base color. IMHO the Black Sands group buy design hit all those high points perfectly (which is why I picked up a set :) ).

I loves me some solids. Currently oiling up some Atlantic Cub hotstamps, the black/DG Peacock/DG Tiger really pop when oiled.

They are cheaper, but you just end up buying several thousand anyway... I think I first took the plunge with my cash set when ASM had a sale on solids for under a dollar per. Those were the days!
