Had a chance to check out this place and the Hard Rock that went in where the Taj was. Hard Rock is way nicer but no poker.

The Oceans Resorts is basically the mothballed Revel reopened after 4 years. The restaurants are basically the same and the old Garces places open in Thursday. However the “poker” room is pathetic. Paulson chips and Kem cards if you were wondering. Racetrack tables with no cup holders:eek:
This is it...

I like having the poker "room" right out in the middle. It attracts more fish. When Bally's (Vegas) moved their poker room from mid casino over to the corner it really killed the games there.

I like the Poker Room in its own room, but in a high traffic area. The Mirage is perfect, right between the cage and sports betting.

Bellagio, Venitian, Aria all in similarly good locations but still in their own space.

I hate the Flamigo space. 1/2 walls right on a main walkway means lots of people leaning on the walls smoking. So much smoke wafts into the Poker area it drives me nuts.

This makes for a nice playing experience, and I absolutely love playing at the Bellagio. That is where I go to relax and soak in the atmosphere while I play.

This is where the drunk fish hang out. This is where I go to make money.

On most trips I spend time in both rooms, but guess where I spend the most time....

You know, it's a damn shame. It really is. I can go on about how horribly mismanaged that whole venture was from day 1, or the total cluster that Glenn Straub caused when he took over then dumped the site onto its current owners. I won't. I just wish they'd get it together and make that property work. The OG Revel poker room was so cool and modern. Almost like it was plucked out of "The Bank" from Ocean's 13. It had that kind of dusky, classy vibe.

Agreed.

The location is tough too

Borgata is such a textbook example of how to run a casino and a poker room. Location is great too. Harrahs should kick it up a notch.

BTW I’m on the beach in Brigantine looking at it as I type this

Love Brigantine. Haven't been down the shore proper yet this year. Enjoy it!

Harrahs should kick it up a notch.

Harrah's poker room is in the most unfortunate place in the whole building. They really should demolish the restaurant they can't seem to keep under one owner (it was Bill's, is it AC Burger Co. now? Or Guy's Sammich disaster?) that's next to the entrance by the dining area and move the poker room there with bay views and a straight shot into the casino and people entering from transit and parking.

@SixSpeedFury That's amazing. I have to imagine that property is some kind of elaborate write off at this point.

Comparing that with Hard Rock is the fact that Ocean is, to my knowledge, not backed by any kind of global organization that can absorb losses to get it off the ground. Hard Rock, of course, has that advantage. Such a shame. I really wanted that place to make it.

I should have tried to take pics of the chips.

We went again Thursday night with friends who have a place in LBI and never saw Ocean or Borgata. We ate the Distrito taco truck in Ocean. That was great! Had some drinks then went to Borgata.

Thursday night at Ocean there was exactly one poker table full! Borgata had every table full and was spreading a $100/200 cash game. They also had their other room set up for the Spring Open....I guess for TV.

Our friends both felt Borgata was the nicest casino.

Thanks for the pics and report on the new room. I've never been to AC and was thinking about visiting soon.

Best room is definitely Borgata and all-around highest class experience for sure. The room at Trop, while not much to look at, is probably #2 overall.

In terms of food, excitement, experience and everything else it’s kind of like whack-a-mole. There is fun stuff to do and eat or drink at basically every property, but Borgata is closest to all-in-one. The exception to that is it’s in the marina district and doesn’t have beach access. The same is true of Harrah’s and the Golden Nugget. If that’s a factor, consider one of the ocean front properties and cab or jitney over to Borgata for your poker sessions.

You can get good deals post Labor Day while the weather is still warm and the ocean temps are perfect.
