Not Mine 14 NPS $1ks at $8 Each? (1 Viewer)

I think the point is that they aren’t ACF, either.

Yeah, well, stupid pricing like this for TH&C, NPS, AS $20s, etc. isn't helping the hobby, IMO.

It's one thing if an auction results in dramatically higher prices for some chips in short supply, like the ES primary tourneys.

It's quite another thing if people are dumb enough to support raffles yielding stupidly high returns for the sellers.

But if people then adopt these ridiculously high per chip prices for straight sales, everyone else is more or less forced to follow suit. And then where does the new blood come from for future sales? The people hurt most are those with second-tier popularity chips, including Paulsons, whose sales are way, way down.

I know Tommy has a lot of things to consider, but I wish raffles had been banned a long time ago.

Just my three cents...

Probably that has become new reality. Focus from a lot if chippers have shifted towards profit. And maybe they have to since it has become the way of trading among us... what comes around goes around, chicken or egg.

Yup.
Everything you’ve said has turned me off completely. I’m not sure if it’s made me disillusioned or if it’s opened my eyes, but I’m not interested in swimming in those pools any more. I’m down to one cash set, one tournament set and one small travel set, and I’m happy to leave all this crazy buying and selling and raffling to other folks.

You may want to reevaluate your criteria.

Nope, because it's no different from a lot of behavior that I've seen many other forum members do. I have no control over it, so I'll just have to abide it. Besides, if I really was here to complain about the prices of things, that's would be about 99.5% of my posts and that gets old really fast. And if that were the sum total of my contribution to the community, then I might as well not be here. So my next best choice is not to be a hater, and let people buy and sell at whatever they decide is a reasonable deal for them. Buyer, beware. Seller, be aware.

Doo-ba doo-ba doo-ba, Mardi Gras,

I'm not going to debate the price...but naming those condition 'New' is unforgivable for a knowledgeable chipper

If a willing buyer choses to pay this price, then we have to assume the price is fair. So far no one has stepped up to buy the chips. Given this is a best offer auction, it is entirely plausible that the list price is not the price the seller hopes to achieve.

The price seems "high" to me, but what do I know? I do not own any of these and never looked into buying them. Could be ~$8/ chip delivered is fair.

I agree those chips are not "new" "never used" "un-opened" "undamaged" The edge view clearly shows the mill marks are nearly worn away. While the faces look great at a distance, I expect they will show similar wear. I would agree that the condition is "very good" as stated by the seller, but they aren't new. Even so, the seller's pictures fairly depict the condition of the chips. It seems unlikely a buyer is going to be deceived.

Can't quite figure out where all the negative energy comes from regarding pricing. It is pointless to complain about supply vs demand setting the price. When the price hits your pain point and you no longer want to buy - - - then don't buy. When enough people agree prices are too high, i.e. every prospective buyer, then the price will fall or the seller will just keep his/her chips.

< shrug > -=- DrStrange

While I never participated in the buys I miss the posts from elated participants of the sales once offered for minty chips from closed casinos by the Chiproom. Now all I see are raffles that place chips at the $3+ range?

For people that are not on the hunt for AS / ES chips...this seems a GREAT time to buy.

While I'm not a fan of raffles, most are running star chips...I've seen no influence (price going up) on price of other chips (au contraire tbh)

PCA, Aztars and other shaped / textured / mint TH&C casino chips are not influenced by the star chips... you also had to pay for those premium chips before The Paulson score. What did change is that some that sold star chips at nice profits, have (a lot) more cash to spend then before.

Big TCR score is not to be expected anytime soon (but what do I know) and if their would be one...it would not be like the good old days (imho).

If anything, prices on other stuff have gone down. I’m curious to see how that Casino Cancun raffle sells. I think the last chiproom sale showed that average looking mint RHC’s aren’t gonna sell for $3 apiece, but these raffles seem to be breaking the rules of the supply and demand market, so I’m watching. I think the raffles are a blight, but I’m still curious enough to watch.

With most unleaded star chips selling for $3-$5 and most non-thc mint paulsons going for $3 each or more (both rhc and suits mold, even fantasy chips), i'm left wondering what a good somewhat-rare set of mint old-school leaded casino paulsons with real shaped inlays is worth in today's market. On par with recent pca/aztar/?? prices. or not?

Surely, more than any of those others mentioned (one would think), but pricing has started to look pretty crazy to me lately, and has for quite awhile (dating back to the 43mm horseshoe skyrockets). And don't call me Shirley.

TO ME, those would be the true grail chips and would be worth more that all these other recent sales, assuming some level of attractiveness.
But I really think the market is all screwed up, and it’s kind of fascinating. The market said that the star chips were worth $4-5, $7, $10 apiece. But in terms of sales and auctions, that was only until the people with deep pockets who wanted them, got their fill.
Now there’s nobody left with the desire and means to pay those prices. So based on the market, they shouldn’t be worth those prices. But the raffles fill up, so the perception of their value is still there.
So who can say what they’re worth, or what something else shiny and new (or leaded and old) will be worth?

Reality is that even at $5/chip chips like PCA $5 & AS$5, AS oversized, ES tourney & ES quarters (and prob. all other ES cash chips too) are not for sale.
And have you seen how much other oversized paulsons have been selling (Garden City, Winner Club, Horsehoe, ...) ?

Multiple chips that fetched +$20/chip...and now there are cheaper / nicer alternatives...so at $10 the AS oversized are still cheap.

As someone who doesn’t have thousands of dollars available for chips. The current market has made just about anything Paulson out of reach for me. I can’t justify $5-$10+ per chip no matter how beautiful or rare the chips are. I just hope well designed Sunfly hybrids come out every so often because that’s about all that’s “affordable” anymore?
