I received some Matsui Radisson samples and love these. How do they compare to Yakama Nations by weight and feel? And how do both compare to Sunfly Hybrid Ceramics? Trying to decide on Qtys to purchase.

I have:
43 mm Ceramics (I like the weight and size)

Purchase under way of:
Hybrid Ceramics

Looking to mix to create a set:
Matsui AND Yakama

Looking to make some decisions by end of week.
Thanks for your feedback!

Never handled Yakamas.

The Mitsui's I think are weightier and shuffle/stack nicer than their 39mm hybrid counterparts, IMO. Hybrids have a more "clinky" ceramic sound. Matsui's have the more muted plastic sound. Hybirds seem more slippery.

For my money, the 43mm hybrids and the Mitsui's are on a much more level playing field. I like them both, fairly equally.

Compared to my Sun-Fly 43mm hybrids, my Matsui 43mm chips seemed like they were greased with snot. Not even in the same ballpark, stability-wise.

I kind of forgot that I had a couple of 43mm Matsui to compare. I agree they are definitely more slippery than the 43mm hybrids.

My comment was comparing 39mm matsui vs 39mm hybrids...and my recollection was that the 39mm hybrids were quite slippery compared to the matsui 39mm.

Spent some time tonight playing around with

- Matsui Raddison 39mm and 43mm
- Gemaco Occidental 39mm and 43mm
- Sun-Fly Mayfair 43mm
- Bud Jones Yakama 39mm
- Paulson CDI 98 39mm

Of the non-Paulson chips, I prefer the Matsuis hands down. Some random observations:

1. The Matsuis have a matte finish (at least it seems like it to me) and look and feel "high-end". They stack and shuffle fine, not as stable as Paulsons but good enough imo. You can throw out a bet and they will slide out nicely.

2. The Gemacos are similar to the Matsuis in these regards but the finish isn't as nice and they don't have the beveled edge. They feel a bit cheaper, maybe lighter, but still feel like a bargain at the sale price.

3. The Sun-Flys have a very plasticky feel and sound that I don't care for. They might be more stable than the Matsuis but not by much.

4. The BJ Yakamas are unplayable. They are slippery as hell and also have a suction effect, where when you pick up the top part of a stack the bottom part comes with it and then crashes down after a second. They are so slick it is awkward to sort and stack a splashed pot. And when you throw out a bet, they just stick to each other.

Weight in grams per chip:

39mm
CDI: 9
Matsui: 12
Gemaco: 11
Bud Jones: 11

43mm
Matsui: 13.333
Gemaco: 12
Sun-Fly: 10

@navels i was thinking of purchasing the Radisson Matsui but they are out of 1s. My idea was to buy sep yakama legend 1s since they have the denomination on the face. Or buying cheap Crown chips from discount pokerchips.com. They have white/gray 1s, and just do a relabel job.
Thoughts?

I think they go well with each other. The labels I have are a tad small so I’ll get new ones made, but these were fine for a mock-up. If you get labels don’t get the thick laminate. The Matsui recess is too thin for them, they poke up and can catch on labels from other chips.

Are the Matsui labels removable, or did you label over?

I just labeled over. I didn’t and don’t want to remove the original. I’m not sure you could.

@Tommy have you attempted to remove a Matsui label on any of the samples they sent you? I wonder if it's possible to get them blank even?

Looking to do a relabel for a 43mm Matsui. Where’d you get your labels? Does@Gear make the thin ones?

yes from Gear. I also had a minor issue removing the label and using a think laminate to replace - the metal insert has holes in it and you can see them after applying the label into the recess left. I’m nothome but I’ll post some pics after Monday showing you what I’m taking about.

Thanks for the pics! So you’d recommend just using the thin ones and applying them over the existing based on your experience?

It’s been a while so let me get home and check everything again. Sorry for the wait but I want to make sure I remembered everything right. The inlay replacement is fine, and nobody but you will notice what I’m talking about probably, but let me take photos of everything and then you can judge.
