hey all, an incredible amount of information and help I have already found on this forum, and have been reading a decent amount.

For cheap tables, it seemed like the consensus was the barrington folding table was a solid and sturdy option for the money. I wanted to ask to see if there was any opinions on the following ones, and an ESPN one i saw that I liked due to the lighted rail

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Barrington-10-Player-Poker-Table/54316415

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Barringt...75035&wl11=online&wl12=55465427&wl13=&veh=sem

https://www.walmart.com/ip/ESPN-10-...5035&wl11=online&wl12=172140278&wl13=&veh=sem

I really dislike the felt on these and did look at the YAT and liked this felt:

Any general opinion for how hard it is to change felts on these types of tables for someone not used to that type of work quite yet?

Thanks!

If you have space I recommend taking the time to save up for one of Tonys tables

I think the basic table is around 550 CAD so almost free once you convert to USD. Seriously tho its worth it.

I saved for 6 months or so.

I went with BBO Tables. Not quite budget-level, but still fairly inexpensive. I got the Aces Pro table and it is seriously AMAZING for the price. Super solid, sturdy, easily fits 10 big guys. I found it on Amazon for $500. You can also order it off the BBO website, but it's more like $750.

I'm also on the T Chan train, his tables are a fantastic value.

However, I did reupholster my Barrington and it wasn't too difficult. There's a couple of threads where folks have done that in the poker tables subforum.

If you want to go cheap then go really cheap and just get a topper for 20 or 30.

If your spending more then that then just save for a Tony basic table. my 2c

Thank you for the info. I will see if i can find some of those threads. Did you get your new felt from YAT?

I appreciate this input. I have definitely been checking out T_chan's threads and am in love with majority of his products. From what he posts, to all of the recommendations from everyone else, it seems like his tables are the top notch choice. The only problem being the shipping alone, is going to cost more than I am really looking to spend on the table at the moment. Maybe if I get a solid game going regularly, it would make more sense to spend more on a nicer table, but right now, it would likely be a semi weekly game of 10ish, and I just want to get the supplies together so we can start asap. Just recently moved into a new house and finally have some room for this kind of thing.

I can't do a topper, bc the room I'll be using doesn't have a table at all at the moment, so i thought an option like the barrington would be the best/quickest option since it seemed like from reading, people seem to think they are sturdy without spending too much.

I have seen that his supply of cloth may be ending and that did definitely put more pressure on me to almost go that route, and I have already thought of custom designs I would use, but I just don't think I am ready to spend that much at the moment

Spend the money you will be very happy plus if it doesn't work out you can always post if for sale and I gaurantee someone will buy it pronto!!!!

go super cheap then. Just beware a used table will be hard to re sell and you will get pennies on the dollar.

Just get the cheapest Barrington model you can find online, and recover it with a ssc color you like from YAT. You'll have a very sturdy folding table for cheap (likely $125-175 total), which will still come in handy (as a 2nd table, portable, outdoors, whatever) once you eventually splurge for something nicer.

Tough to beat a ChanMan table for value, unless you build it yourself, or have a local builder who owes you a favor or two.

Another option is to keep an eye on Craigslist or OfferUp etc. It is pretty common to see decent quality tables being sold. This might result in a happy medium.

I had a table topper to start out on. I got it on a Graig -list style site for 40$ with the dice chips lol. Then when I upgraded I built my own. It was alot of fun!

That's a great looking table. Very good job on the build. That does sound like it could be a fun project to build my own as well, but I'll still end up getting a cheaper one first.

I have the majority of the tools needed for the job, just not so sure I have the skills needed, lol, but those will come hopefully over time.

Most of my friends have "attempted" a table build and they are all significantly inferior to Chanman's tables. Of course it all depends on your ability and having the right tools. All in all it will be difficult to build a table as nice as Tony for close to the same cost if you factor in your time.

I totally understand wanting to do a table build as a labour of love. However, I am all thumbs and would surely mess it up and maybe hurt myself in the process...lol.

If you already have the tools already (router, jigsaw, skillsaw, drill)... you probably have the skills to build a table. There's not much to a basic table.
