WHAT PLAYING CARDS SHOULD I BUY AND WHY!!?? (2 Viewers)

KEM are probably my favorite, but as others have noted, they are a bit pricey. Desjgn are a very close second. I absolutely love the look and feel of the Classic Culture. These have seen the majority of my card rotation lately, and the players in my game love them. I think the best, by far, of the low priced cards are the Bicycle Prestige. Very good cards at a very good price.

so based on this thread, I ordered a set of the Desjgn Classic Victorians.....I used to love the KEMs but the warping turned me off. I actually used COPAGs the most but they are a bit slippery, especially for the non-regular players who are used to handling paper cards. I'll let you know what I think once I have put the Desjgns in play!

Ok, received these today. Feel and look great so far. Looking forward to the first game with them!

I got some Desjgn’s when joined and really like them as well.

Recently saw these Ice on amazon. Think they look really cool. Any opinions?

Haven't seen these before. Someone will eventually try them out. I'm burnt on trying out new cards for a while plus I have plenty of new Desjgn decks coming in soon so it won't be me.

The AoS is reminiscent of the Royal AoS though (Royals are terribly thin and cheap) but I have no facts on who makes them to base an opinion other than the AoS resemblance.

Let us know if you try them out.

I love my Fournier cards, but my players prefer Bicycle Prestige. Both great cards but the Bicycle cards are 1/2 the price!

For $10.06 per set up and free shipping I don’t know of a better deal! They don’t come in a hard case is all. But are still new in wrapper.

@Rhodeman77 FYI - I purchased a setup of Bicycle Prestige via that link. Great cards. Anyone have a recommendation on where to get a decent case for these?

For poker games on felt, I love using the Bicycle Jumbo Playing cards. I like having the card value and suit be much larger. Great hands just look better.

For poker games on a kitchen table where drinking is ensuing - I prefer the plastic coated copag cards. If glasses or drinks are sweating it wont ruin the cards.

For dealing blackjack from a shoe. I get cards free or cheap from the casinos I frequent. I attend a few golf shows a year and cassins are always exhibiting giving away free decks. Get 5-6 and your shoe is filled with professional casino cards...with cut corners of course.

 Friends don’t let friends play poker with paper cards! Even plastic coated paper!

I all seriousness, there are quality plastic cards out there that are very cheap so there should be no need for paper cards. They are usually worn out after one game and just suck for poker

As for kitchen table games, I would encourage you use a table topper made for Poker or at the very least throw a thick table cloth or blanket over the table. I have had to do that many times in vacation houses and at friends places, etc. I absolutely hate playing cards on a hard table surface. It’s hard to shuffle and pick up your cards.

For blackjack Costco sells 12 packs of Bicycle paper cards for $15

I have a huge stock of Modiano's currently. Love them, but plan to try desjgn's next when I need to restock on setups. I really love the artwork on them and want to see them in person.

I am still interested in getting new setups of Fournier, Modiano, or Piatnik. My preference is blue/red setups not really a fan of the other colours.

I would like Jumbo Index. Let me know what you have fellas!

Of the ones you listed, from what I read, Bicycle Prestige that are made in Spain are rebranded Fournier's.

Other than that, of the three you mentioned, I went with Modiano on my last purchase because the other brands were expensive and/or hard to come by.

Fournier's were on Amazon for $45+/set up. No thanks.

Yeah not looking to break the bank. I have Kem Arrows and Design cards already...just wanted to add some interesting decks to the herd. It is always fun to have different options come game time.

If any Canadians have extra setups let me know...

I have Modiano Platinum Acetate cards which are amazing and I love them... However they are pricey and only come in blue/red.

Once I started running more than 1 table, I went for their "Texas Poker" line due to all the color options. Not as premium as the PAs but much less too at around $7/deck.

Give the PAs a try if you only want blue/red. They can be found for $20-$30/setup.

Here's all my ones from their "Texas Poker" line with all their colors available. Note though that most Modiano are poker sized and not bridge sized. Their only bridge sized cards are the "Club" line I believe.

Texas Poker is only available in Jumbo. PA's are available in Jumbo, Standard and 4-PIP.

Have you tried Cartamundi Ace? Pretty cheap, comes in red/blue, and has a larger index.

Just say modiaNO. Customer service sucks, and they intentionally screwed over one of their largest clients. Fuck those guys and the bull up their ass.

I've read the backstory. Unfortunately I already did my Modiano purchases before learning of Desjgn and the debacle. I really like Jason's cards so I have full plans to pick up some next time I need them. Just stocked at the moment.

These are indeed pretty nice and available at Walmart and Target. Full Poker size only.

They are also printed with the darker red “Security ink”

They were available up here until Target Canada folded.

Walmart Canada used to carry them, but dropped them when Target started selling them. They have not picked them up again, so there's currently no source for them in Canada that I'm aware of.
