I know that there were a few folks who used to do hot-stamps on molds that weren’t available through CPC, and I was wondering if anyone was still doing them?

I was also curious if anyone had any experience with hot-stamped FDL mold chips? I love the minimal design and I think it make for a really cool spotted, hot-stamped set in case there isn’t enough interest in the BCC/GPI solid, hot-stamped set.

Thanks guys!

@cgraham86 & @monkeydog

Only 2 I know of (last i heard) that still stamp as of recently (there may be more I'm missing). Whether they can do FDL and/or the error rates for individual molds is a question only they can answer.

Have you asked CPC? They now offer hot-stamping, but it is restricted to certain molds. Dunno if FDL is on the list or not.

EDIT:

from the CPC hot-stamp web page:
Hot Stamping is available on the following seven 39mm molds.
A-CREST, CIRCLE SQUARE, HORSEHEAD, JOCKEY, SCROLL, B-DIAMOND, DIECARD

No FDL.

I believe that someone from the community also bought @meatboy’s old stamper so another hot stamper might be lurking...

There also was an old GB before my time on CT that was cancelled due to shoddy results when stamping the FDL mold

I recall reading about that...I believe it was one of the Grand Cardroom runs. There was a "history of the Grand Cardroom" thread on CT which had a link to the back story. I'll see if I can find it.

I wonder if it would be possible to get the artwork for the GCRs for those that have a set and would maybe be interested in adding on a cranberry T25k?

I mocked these up these GCRs (of course this couldn't move forward without permission from the owners) just to give people an idea of what the chips would look like. I myself would be thrilled to have another shot at some BCC/GPI solid, hot-stamped GCRs, but I also want to hear what you guys think. I'd also love to know if you would prefer the cranberry chip be a T5 or a T25k. I personally think it's probably be best to do a T25k so those who already own a GCR set could add those chips on.

There's definitely some work to be done, but I think we could definitely do it!

Let me know when you have all three permissions lined up. Horse before cart, sir.

I think there is a mockup floating around that has the stamp size. Its close the inlay size.

There was some ASM FDL done by meatboy as the hungry frog. I guess that it is the same mold.

Also, yes we tried to stamp Grand Cardrooms on the FDL mold and had to kill it due to high reject rate. Had something like 80,000 pre-ordered IIRC.
