I got these chips out today while I was cleaning out the chip closet and selling extra chips. I didn't have any proper picutres of my set, so I went ahead and made a few while I was taking shots for the classifieds. I haven't had a chance to play with these lately, but they are next in line for sure. Such a great set. Awesome GB execution. Needless to say these won't be making it over to the classifieds anytime soon.

These have the glitter option. It's a bit hard to capture on camera due to the subtleness of the effect, but man in person these things really pop. So glad I spring for the extra.

Without further ado...

Yes, and the man himself that made it happen. Without a herculean effort on his behalf, this never would have been possible. Thanks again for all your hard work on this GB five (yikes!) years ago. This set still gives me great joy.

@Josh did most of the leg work (negotiating price, colors, minimums, shipping, etc.) with Matsui. I just d*cked around in Excel, Google Docs, and shipped em out :)

Being modest, for sure. After things got rolling you were the intermediary between J5 and Matsui. I recall a near constant level of contact that was maintained by you until the chips were on the boat. Then you had the task of packing over 10k chips, and mailing them globally. Yep, just an excel ninja...;)

I've just been a part of this site a little while but never have seen these chips. These look to be beautiful and great tourney chips. How long ago was this group buy? Any leftovers? Or is the mold still available for a round 2 or special order?

This set was part of a group buy that was executed in October of 2011 on another site. About 10,000 chips were ordered as part of the group buy. All denoms were offered in either 43mm or 39mm, and could be ordered with glitter artwork or without. J5 did the artwork, and @Josh ran the group buy. @links_slayer did the final coordination and shipping. I'm not sure if another buy is possible, but I recall the minimums were pretty steep.

Lots of the original owners are on this site, so if you are interested you could always post a WTB.

Nope, sold my 100-pc heads-up set. I sooooo wanted to love those chips. :( Although gorgeous, the chips are just too slick to provide any pleasure whatsoever during actual play. Will never buy another Matsui chip again, at any price.

Matsui acrylic plaques? Different story. (y)

Maybe napkins for after the chicken wings ? I think that's causing the slippage

Yeah, they are definitely not like stacking clay chips, but I've never thought its that bad. It's not like our stacks are constantly spilling all over the place. The old piece of advise of "get samples" most definitely applies when considering Matsui.

Yep. Tried to force myself to love them too, but could never get used to flying chips. Finally sold my 600 piece set. Funny, but I kind of miss them now.

I think this is my all-time favorite set that I hated. :)o_O

Matsui chips are the best looking, but not so great handling plastic chip, made bar none.

Still love the look of this set and lusted over them for a long time. And they look so pretty in their clamshell racks.

This was always a set I was sad I didn't get in on. I have a sample set and love them
