Does anyone know he process of making a hotstamp die? What are they made of, and who makes them? Are they made by hand or machine. Has anyone made a video of poker chip hotstamp dies being made?

I'm guessing it's similar to the process in this video.

^^ I would imagine it's pretty similar. The dies are made out of brass and cut out with CNC. Sometimes those cutouts are then soldered to a brass block that the hot stamp machine holds. Here's what my LOTR chip dies look like.

I'm sure that any company that purports to offer custom hotstamping will take care if the die-making in-house or use a preferred contractor. They will also keep the die on file for you (unless you wanted it) in order to do add-ons in the future. Be careful when designing the hotstamp graphic, though - there's only so much detail you can reliably get on the chip face. Think simple text and line art.

Hi, I just responded. I've been away from the site for a while focusing on other things.

You'll have to be more specific on exactly what SOK stamped for you. He didn't sell me all of his dies, and since then most of my work has been on custom die work that people have ordered, or are a product of the set of dies that I had made for cash or tournament.

Just a friendly note... be careful posting people's email addresses in public threads. Bots and crawlers can easily snag properly formatted email addresses and add them to spam lists.

Sharing personal email addresses should be reserved for PMs. However, if you must post some one's email address, I recommend using a broken format with spaces and spelled out punctuation, such as "name <at> gmail [dot] com" to keep the bots at bay.
