Im hosting a game of 8 tomorrow night for the first time (never had more than 4 at this table - all my other hosting has been guest-hosting on other people’s tables.) I guess I’ll find out soon enough, but how big are your octagons and how comfortable are they for 8 guys?
This has 21 inches of space at the edge of each station. It’s 56 inches across, point to point or 52 inches across flat side to flat side.
I fear it’s gonna be tight, but considering it’s 4 or 5 inches longer across than standard table tops, hopefully it’ll be fine.

I don't think you'll find it tight at all. If you've got 21" in front of you and angles on either side, it should feel quite spacious. And if you're always using this 4-handed, you've already gotten used to reaching for the pot already (which is probably the big issue for large rounds/octagons).

My table is 51" flat to flat and 55" point to point & my store-bought topper is 48" flat to flat and 51" point to point. None of us are petite and we fit just fine around either one.

I suck and I didn’t take any pictures. But it worked great with 7. Didn’t get 8 players, but I’m sure it would have been fine.
But a rail would be nice. That might have to be a project.

That character with the pointy ears looks pretty shady.. "oh, I'll just make it look like I am eyeing the food on the plate while I sneak a peak at what she is holding"
