Global Poker experience? (1 Viewer)

I dont know, looks sketchy.

GlobalPoker.com uses two virtual currencies. Gold Coins and $weeps Cash. You buy “Gold Coins” which work the same way as on many social poker sites. You play your Gold Coins and build your stack but you can’t withdraw them for real money. Global Poker also gives away sweepstakes, called “$weeps Cash,” in order to promote the sale of gold coins.

Because the sweepstakes are free, when you play with them and win, you can cash out with PayPal legally in the United States or Canada.

You can switch between these two forms of currency in the client in the top right-hand corner of the screen.

All players get $2 free $weeps Cash and 10,000 gold coins when they sign up. One $weep corresponds to $1 in value.

I've been playing on it for a few weeks. I play mostly sng's and don't play often (average 1-3 sng's per week). They started with only 6 player sng's for $6 buy in. However, they just added 9 player going up to $10 and some $20 that are still 6 player. Just a few weeks ago it took a while for a sng to start. Today I joined an empty $5 9 player sng and it started in under 5 minutes. So looking promising.

Interface reminds me of Full Tilt. Though still plan to play low stakes only, in case they get shut down.

Logged a little over 25k hands here so far, haven't had any major problems with the software yet (web-based client).

It took me a while to get my documents verified for cashout.

The cashouts I made were fairly quick after that (~20-24 hours).

Cashouts are only to paypal, and paypal takes 4.4% + 0.30 because it's an international transaction (they're from Australia).

The rake is 5% with a cap of $3 (at all stakes arggg).

Not really a rewards program, they have a couple freerolls that's it.

The reality is we don't have many options in the US, so I'll keep playing here until I feel uneasy or someone better comes along.

They are advertising on Facebook. On one hand that means they may attract attention from the wrong people and get shut down, on the other hand it means there will be lots of fish.

I logged in the other day and they have now added multi table SNG's, so looking better each time.

My experience has been very good. I mostly play 100-200PLO.

Here is what I have observed:

1. Game selection is OK, anything higher than micro stakes (.50/$1 and up) will usually run 3-5 tables depending on the time of day.

2. Payout is quick, you have to do some legwork with the verification but I was verified and withdrawing money within 48 hours

3. The games are fishy. Maybe it's because I primarily play PLO and the player base isn't as astute at the game as other sites, but I literally had someone dump 3 buy ins to me within 20 minutes.

4. No rakeback or promos besides 2 free rolls they run daily, which are $500

Overall I'd give the site an 8/10, if the player base increases and they do some bigger freerolls/player comps it'd be the nuts

I've been playing daily. Usually play $20 sng's. They usually start pretty quickly now. You can join an empty table and it will start within a couple minutes. There still isn't much selection for limits though: If I want a 9 player sng that isn't turbo, it goes from $6 to $20. I built up enough to play the $20's, but would like to be able to play a $10 if I'm playing shitty and not have to drop down to $6.

The hand history sucks, a bit confusing and bad interface. All in all though, I like playing on there. Should probably take out some of the money I've made before they get shut down lol.

I've enjoyed playing on the site - I don't know if there's a way to look at mucked cards the way you could on Stars and Tiilt back in the day, it would be nice to be able to do that.

Are you all still ejoying your Global Poker experience?? Any major issues?

Still playing there somewhat regularly

The player base has increased and the tournaments have gotten better

They recently changed their payout method for PayPal to a bank account direct deposit which sucks, payout times now take 4-5 business days

I'm also still playing regularly. Agree that Paypal was better, but I've already had 2 cash outs that go directly to my checking account. Takes a few more days, but is fine.

I have been doing well on there, cashing out more often than I did on Pokerstars or FTP. I play mostly SNG's which usually start within a few minutes. Hand history still sucks and you can't see mucked cards.

Thanks! I'm looking to get in and start playing...I appreciate your insight.

I had stopped playing on their for over a year or so, felt like they flipped the 'rigged' switch on. I starting playing again a couple months ago and seems to be fair and plenty of people on there. SNG's start pretty fast even though they still don't have some of the limits I would like. For example, if you want to play a 9 player SNG that isn't turbo, you can choose $6 or $20. I'd prefer to also have a $10 option.

Though if you play cash, there's plenty of variety with the limits. There's also some decent tournament's, but I rarely have time for the long ones.

why not ignition or ACR? have you used those?

Anybody do the mail in thing for free money? I did it for like three months when I was playing some in the site. Most of us go to the PO regularly anyway.

Never heard of those. Are they pretty good? Mostly playing Global Poker because I still had money left on there.

What's ACR?

No idea what you're referring to.

ACR is americas card room

I ended up trying ACR.

At first I was a little pissed: I signed up a new account. A day later I deposited $100. A day after I deposited money, they informed me it was a duplicate account and had been suspended -- They moved all my money to my previous account.

Only problem with that, I assume they bought out another online site that I used a long time ago. Probably 10+ years ago since it was linked to an email address that I no longer had. So I couldn't confirm my account, couldn't log in, couldn't play, and they had my money.

I worked with their support and got it changed to a valid email address and I was able to login. Their support was quite helpful, got it resolved within a couple days.

So comparing ACR to Global Poker:

ACR is definitely more robust. It has a software interface that you install, similar to Pokerstars or Full Tilt that I used to play on. VS Global Poker that is 100% through your web browser.

There's definitely more choices for SNG's on ACR. I can play a $10 SNG compared to Global Poker that only offers $6 or $20 if you don't want a turbo. The SNG's last longer than on Global Poker. I've have a few 1 table SNG's that last close to 90 minutes assuming you make it to heads up.

So far I like ACR more than Global Poker. I still have some money on Global Poker, so will play that if I don't want to play for 90 minutes.

Anyone know if globalpoker has a daily tournament somewhere online? I cant seem to find one anywhere. I think the site is fairly soft so far.

I like Global Poker, it seems like there is a good amount of game selection. I wish you could create private games.

I am not a fan of Global Poker. I feel like the Random Number Generator was poorly designed. I much prefer Americas Card Room. Seems like a more realistic RNG. With Global Poker, someone seems to have a flush on almost every hand.
