Indeed, if it was self dealt I would feel very sorry for the people at the ends. They would need world champ card pitchers to play at the ends.

Not only is it getting a dealer spot, but the racetrack at the two ends is going to be bigger so that players have to toss in their cards and chips further so that the dealer can reach them.

A quick cloth replacement for another person who bought a casino table from the local auction.

Stands are coming along. Installed the concealed hinges, locks and attached the tops (after I took these pics). Time to trim, sand and add laminate.

I also received a package today. Though it's not poker chips, it's also exciting. I'll definitely be playing around with this over the holidays:

It's a laser engraver that I got from Kickstarter. I'm not expecting much from it due to it's compact size but it'll be neat to see what it can do.

Whatever happened to the big project you were working on? Pictures? Or did I miss it?

The really big project fell through :(

Wow is this sold?

Yes, someone ordered it and they're picking it up tomorrow. I have 4 in total, 2 already sold, 3rd one pending sale and the 4th is also pending a sale but I don't think the buyer's serious.

Given the weight requirements and the 3rd pic of the black boxes, I'm guessing these are to hold dealers

Heavier than dealers... well most dealers.

Lots more work done on them, I'm determined to get them done this week. I'm really close, just installing the adjustable feet, re-attach the doors and they should be done. Everything looks really dirty still, the plastic film is still on everything until everything's 100% done. The bottoms are just painted along with the edges of the doors.

Of course nothing gets totally done without a hitch. One of the corners chipped off on the doors so I had to remove the laminate and replace it with a new piece. Heat gun to the rescue.

Another refurbished casino table delivered. This customer received a discount for promotional considerations. The last corvette table kept all of the hardware, including the 2 drop boxes. This one only kept the chip tray.

Playing around with my new laser engraver. I didn't quite get the centering right with this but I was going to sand down the edges anyways.

3" diameter oak puck. Looks like the grain posed a bit of a problem so I'll probably have to sand it down flatter.

Refurbished another blackjack table from the casino auction.

The buyer is from Calgary but is in town this weekend so he's going to strap it to his car roof and drive it back to Calgary :S

Playing around with my laser engraver more as well. I'm going to make about a dozen of these for my fundraiser events.

Left side is birch plywood, right side is solid Oak. I think I'm going to do them all in oak so that I can roundover the edges then add some poly.

The 10' table is nearly finished. I've dubbed it "The Beast". The last thing to do is to tidy up the wires underneath for the USB ports which will be done after it's delivered and installed since it has to be taken apart to move it into the condo. Then all of the wires get secured.

It has an illuminated raised rail with mostly suited pattern, but right across from the dealer spot they asked for a custom engraving.

The plastic film is still on the base.

Holy cow that is a beast. The dealer is going to need a Patrick Ewing wingspan or a croupier stick to rake in bets and cards.

I’m trying to picture it but maybe the scale of 10 feet is throwing me off. Are those cup holders centered in fromt of the playing positions?

Those are interesting looking rails. What kind of table do they go on?

Poker tables. Very unique poker tables. That's the most I can disclose.

I’m trying to picture it but maybe the scale of 10 feet is throwing me off. Are those cup holders centered in fromt of the playing positions?

Yes the cup holders are centered for each player. It's kind of hard to visualize it without people actually sitting at the table. The area inside the betting line is around 7' long.

I am electricity stupid.

I know USB's are low-power, but what kind of electrical connection is necessary to rig up 10 USB ports? Just a standard 110 line?

Seems like a simple, but thoughtful upgrade.

I was considering a small shelf that pulls out revealing the USB port and giving you a place to rest your phone while it charges.

Yes the table requires regular household power. In the photo you can see a black power cord on the right side which goes to an outlet to power the illuminated raised rail and the USB ports.

I made my own brackets for the USB ports so that if the cables/ports ever break or need replacing it's easy to make the swap.

Thinking out loud, maybe it would be better to build a shelf that doesn't pull out where you can rest your phone. Less moving parts = less problems and then no worries about breaking off a pull out shelf.

Something like this:

Not very practical though since if I put my phone on a self underneath the table, how am I supposed to obsessively check the screen every 8 seconds to see if I got an Instagram like?

Only kidding of course. That's a good concept. I assume people would just put their phones on the rail. I'm not a big fan of too much stuff protruding from underneath the table. I was already kind of hesitant to add the brackets even though they only stick out 3/4" below the base, but a thin shelf/cubby shouldn't be an issue.

My thought was that with a shelf, you could still listen to your tunes... but thinking on it, that's probably more for a casino game. We don't get anyone who keeps earbuds in at our home games.

The undershelf would give it a place to rest without having to be on the rail or on the table (phones on the table is a no-no as it could be used to cheat)... you could always take it off the shelf between hands or after you fold.

So I suppose you could get away with five double USB's (positioned between players) which could service all ten players.

Frankly, 4-5 would be all you’d need—everyone isn’t going to need a charge all the time. And TBH, since it is a home game, no problem charging on a side table. It’s not like someone is going to walk off with your phone.

But OTOH, if you can dream it, Tony can build it. (y)
