both of the Sam's clubs I went in had them in the same isle as he shelving and storage bins.
I was there this morning and bought another. If you want to PM your address I can get a shipping quote and let you know what it would cost door to door as I have to go to the PO next week. There were 100+ on the racks at Sam's near me so I am sure I can get more.Every time I'm in a different city I swing by a Sam's if it's nearby to check for one. I've been to 11 across 4 different states and still came up empty handed.
I also missed them when they were cheaper on Amazon, and they're back to $40.
I gave up and bought a "Used - Very Good" one from Amazon Warehouse Deals for $33 and change. Most AWD purchases I've made in the past contained new items that are repackaged, and if they aren't it's easy to return them. I'm just hoping the foam is intact.
Members MarkWhat specific term would you search for when you're looking for these cases?
Codeman, I considered doing it for boxes, and sort of did. Since I could turn the boxes sideways without the chips spilling out, that's exactly what I did. There was room to do them flat, so I think you could do it if you wanted to configure it that way.
I love this, where did you get the covered racks from?Smaller, more mobile option for when I don’t need to drag out the whole shebang: Pelican 1400, with space for up to 700 chips. Nice thing about covered 4 x 25 chip boxes is that I don’t need to fill them all—if fewer chips are needed just fill the extra spots with empty boxes. No sloshing around.

OK this layout is fucking epic. Single-table travel-set storage solution of the decade. Looks like the front rack could perhaps get shifted to accommodate a setup of cards in softpacks. Or, dividers between three barrels of chips could be cut out for a setup + 625ct chip capacity. Compact, ultra-rugged, adaptable, no fumbling around in the depths of foam to try grabbing racks, reasonably light (20lb-ish), and not ungodly expensive.Smaller, more mobile option for when I don’t need to drag out the whole shebang: Pelican 1400, with space for up to 700 chips. And the best part was the Pelican 1400 was under $60 for Amazon Prime Day.OK this layout is fucking epic. Single-table travel-set storage solution of the decade. They are sold out on Apache :-(
There was a thread about these a year or so ago—I think a place called texasholdem had some. Also check the usual suspects on line. They are sold out on Apache :-(

@gopherblue I followed your example, but was only able to fit ten boxes on the bottom instead of 11. I guess that if I stand it on end, it will compress the foam over time to allow for the 11th box to get in the case.Pelican 1510, set up for 1,600 chips in 4x25 covered boxes. Eleven boxes in lower layer, five in upper layer.

Can you post photos of your case and foam?I use 4x25 plastic boxes, but you could use racks. I custom cut the pick 'n pluck foam for 1000 chips in 10 boxes. There is plenty of room in the box for more if I wanted to cut for more. I don't remember who, but someone had a 1520 I think with 2000 chips. I think there is room, but it would be very heavy. Mind fully loaded probably weighs about 45 lbs. or so.
What I did before cutting was measure the boxes in the configuration I was going to use. I can fit 1000 in mine sitting two different ways.
Oh, for accessories, I bought a lid organizer for it as well. Instead of using the screws, which seemed more permanent, I used velcrose on the inside of the lid and the back of the organizer. I can take it out and put the foam top back in if needed.
The lid organizer holds 14 decks of bridge size cards, card protectors, 2 timers, extra batteries, and several dealer buttons.
Here are some pics a buddy of mine took of a 400 chip set he recently put into a Pelican. I helped him pick out a good one. For a small set, the camera case is super lightweight and has a softer handle and a little extra space for pretty much the same price. Can you post photos of your case and foam?
