Bridge/Jumbo Index Issue (3 Viewers)

I just checked my red deck (bought from another member) and have the same defect.

This will not dissuade me from purchasing from you in the future. Excellent customer service desjgn.

Hi everyone. So I have gathered up all of the info from backers and customers on the inconsistencies of the backs colors, forwarded on images, and today, flagged sample decks that have been shipped out to my manufacturer so that they can see for themselves what we’ve been seeing. These samples should arrive to them on Monday.

So there will be a bit of a waiting period until they have a chance to look at the sample decks and get back to me. Once I have their feedback and what they plan on doing to rectify the issue, I will let you know.

Thank you for following up on this and for your transparency. I hope that they will make this right for you.

Sorry that I took so long to inspect my decks. Unfortunately, they have the same problem, even under poor lighting. :(

Although nobody else has mentioned this, I noticed that they smell odd. I expect that to dissipate with use.

Thank you for checking. I hope to have some reaction and resolution to what we are seeing next week from the manufacturer. I find that to be the case with all plastic cards, each having a distinct smell. Most go away after some use.

Well I just checked one deck of red, but just one, I have 3 decks total. The thing is I have excellent color rendition vision, I can actually see more shades between colors than the average person. (I won't explain here but trust me.) I also approve graphic proofs for printing all the time in my work. This one red deck is 100% solid. I checked under various light levels, various color temperatures and both when I knew where the 9c and Qh were and weren't. So one deck down but that deck passed all the tests.

I'm sure that super rendention vision comes in handy. I have a hard enough time distinguishing my navy socks from my black socks, let alone my navy socks from my navy-er socks!

I got my decks few weeks ago (shipping, customs, etc.). Got around to checking the cards today and I can't see anything wrong with the colors. Hope to get them in play at my next game and get more eyes on them but at the moment they look good.

Hi everyone,

I did receive a response (finally—apparently they are neck deep in doing a big order this month). It is a disappointing response nonetheless though, so I am preparing my own response tonight for Kickstarter backers as well as posting it here. The manufacturer doesn’t see the issue in a nutshell, even after receiving sample decks clearly marked where the colors are different shades. So basically, they need to hear from you. They need to see how many customers were affected which is pretty much everyone. Please await my post for further details.

Not on you of course, but :mad::mad::mad:

I’d like to help, but the only setup I’ve opened seems perfect. Maybe it’s my eyes, or maybe some of them are fine, and I got lucky.

I have not opened up any of my set-ups, besides the two we already used. I think I have 28 un-opened left. And I can't open them to 'test' and see if they are OK or not. for our game, they have to stay sealed until the game starts.

Let's wait and see what we can do.

There does appear that a few decks produced did not have this issue @upNdown which is good for those few who received good sets. @T_Chan maybe a short video of current opened decks but then open two or three sealed decks to show comparison. @kk405 i would contribute what you can from the already opened decks that you have.

Here is the Kickstarter post:

Hello everyone,

So I received news from my manufacturer that they did an in depth test on the sample decks that I shipped back. It did take a bit longer than expected as they are in the middle of a big production run currently. I flagged the lighter hue and darker hue cards so that they could see clearly the issues that were present and apparent especially in the red decks, but also the blue. They had a special team to look them over, but said they could not see the anomalies presented to them.

I am disappointed to say the least in this response, so I invite you to tell your experiences (when were issues noticed, by you or another player, share images, a short video, etc.) to Modiano, who produced the cards. Use the first email on their contact page, here: http://www.modiano.it/eng/contatti.html. Use the subject line of Issues with Bridge/Jumbo Index Cards produced for Desjgn. Be candid but polite. It is possible to express our feelings of disappointment without being mean and angry. Let’s see what their response will be. If they still feel that there is no issue, then I will have the cards reprinted and produced elsewhere at my expense.

Thank you everyone. I think if they hear from many of you that they will see that it is a pretty big concern and not just think that it is only coming from me. Include examples of the blue decks as well, even though the reds are far more apparent.

I looked at my decks and couldn't see a difference. Then I pulled out the 4 cards used in the example given earlier in the thread (9cQhKd3s). I put these 4 cards on the table and I could reliably (5 times out of 5) pick the lighter cards. I showed the 4 cards to my wife without telling her what the problem was and asked if she could see any difference. She could also reliably pick out the lighter 2 cards.

Thank you for doing this. Relaying this to the manufacturer with images can help reinforce the current concern with the cards.

This is frustrating knowing it's yet another issue with Modiano.

First there was this, and now this color/print problem. And PlayingCards.net continues to sell those mis-cut Modianos, with a disclaimer:

Losing tons of respect for Modiano by the second.

I am sorry you're having to deal with this, Jason. :(

So does anyone have an example of an email they are sending? I'd like to type one up but I've never been good at polite complaining. I'm going to offer up one of my set-ups that clearly show the color differences, although I have several that I have opened and in my room lighting, am not sure Phil Ivey could even tell the difference.

Don’t forget about the Modiano issues at the 2016 WSOP.........
Sounds like they need to go out of business......:mad::mad::mad:

Just hot link this thread. They obviously are not worried about any self preservation.

Edit: that was a little tongue in cheek.....a little

I will write one tomorrow afternoon. I plan on making a LOUD complaint, even though I may not have a defective picture to share. I can share my write-up with anyone who wishes to get a copy. Just let me know.

Amazing how could they not see the defects. Modiano doesn't care. This is a small order for them. This will be a long drawn out battle that will be tough to win.

Wow that red shade difference is pretty clear. I know people in my game would be upset for sure.

@desjgn Did they say anything about the bent cards I shared photos of? Would be helpful to know before I email them.
