I am playing around with an inlay concept for my poker league, right now not sure if I will do a custom or an inlay.

Concept 1 - Same on both side

Concept 2 - 2 different sides

Thoughts?

My initial reaction is the inlay is to busy. I'm not a fan of the wrap around text

Instant thoughts, is it possible there's a little too much going on there? Will these be 7/8" or 1" inlays/labels on clays or over-sized?

Depending on the answer to the above, I'd recommend maybe whacking them into the CPC chip design tool to see how they'll look on a chip to scale.

Too much text, I might forego the image of the deck of cards. When it's actually printed that image will be tiny.

Agree with all of the above. I've learned less is more with inlays. The little wine guy without the cards will look heaps better on both the front and back options.

Although I do think the curved text is too busy, I'm not 100% against it. Perhaps even just removing the word "poker" from the top and as Rhodeman suggested, remove either the city or est. date from the bottom may allow the concept to work but with less clutter?

Edit: Just another idea to try - How about keep the denom on the B-side and have the motto "less talking" up top, and "more dealing" at the bottom in the curved text style? I'm not sure how it'll look but may be worth a sketch-up.

Thanks, I agree I am trying to cram too much on a small inlay, I am going re-work it to see how I can still get the spirit of our logo but make it easier to see once applied.

Also I thought it was round, but I am wondering when I exported out of Lightroom if I stretched it, Ill go back to original Photoshop file and verify.

Similar reactions as others:
  • Drop "poker"
  • I'd just use Scottsdale without state or date. AZ is in the title already.
  • AZ would likely be better in all caps, with a space before Winegroup
  • I'd drop the slogan and emphasize tthe art guy by himself by removing the cards
  • The wine glass feels too low, like he's going to pour it in his lap. Like others said, focus on getting him dialed in.
Just Some ideas to take/ignore as you see fit. Would go with one sided on this design, but I am interested in a dual face concept for sure. Like @Ronoh P+P set.

What about putting the name of the group on a wine bottle as a label. Or just AZ on the label. The wine part is pretty self explanatory.

I am going to work on the changes and then print them the size of a label to see how readable it is.
- removing the cards
- removing the saying
- removing AZ, 2016 & Poker
- Actually put it on a chip using CPC tool, or add a chip via

Thanks guys, appreciate the feedback

I don't think it's necessary to print the label to see how visible it is. Just zoom out at the proper size, measuring the label on your screen to make sure it's to scale and then see how legible it is. I do that with my custom cloths except that I zoom in instead of out.
