GPI's website lists several options (S2, V6, V7 V9, hotstamp and roulette), but doesn't indicate which is which. In the below pic, I think I can figure out which ones are the hotstamp and roulette.

There is a thread on Big Blue from 2007 that offers some explanations, but the picture links are broken (what is going on with Big Blue?! Is it just because I am not signed in?). It seems to imply that there are multiple options within each line.

Can someone explain to me the differences? Pics appreciated.

More narrowly, I am interested in what my options are for a BJ chip that can be relabeled. I hemmed and hawed on the Parkers chips (which would have worked for my needs) and missed out. I opted out of the Yakama Legends chips because the denoms are in the chip itself (so relabeling as a $100 chip when the mold shows $5 would be confusing).

Thanks in advance.

I'll speak to the ones on the left (MD-36a 8 suits mold) since I have like 1500 of them. Super light (4-5g range I'd think) with no recess. Used as dealer practice chips and cheap roulettes in my experience.

way back in the day (2007) i had a rack of Treasure Island LV poker room $1s which are BJ S2 chips and IMO they might be the most amazing chips i ever handled. Not as slippery as matsui but shuffle and handle like a perfectly broken in paulson and the sound is so unique and satisfying. Since theyre injection molded, all the chips are identical. they dont suffer from manufacturing issues either like warping like some paulsons may have.

I highly suggest trying to track down a barrel of S2s just to shuffle around but dont blame me if it leads to wanting a whole set

@K ALL IN 9, will an S2 chip take a relabel?

So, back to my original question... S2, V6 and V7 all have designs with molds that do not include the denomination (but some V7 molds also include the denomination), yes?

Which of those accept a relabel? And I assume that means peeling off the old label and placing a new @Gear label (tagging Gear because I assume he's had some experience with relabeling BJs).

Thanks.

I also highly recommend you play a cash game with my Parkers before you act. The slippery suction of any BJ is definitely there (that's what she said). My set also includes roulette BJ chips as fracs which feel a little different. The chips are cool, but not for everyone. I can find reasons to not like them as well as like them.

So scroll past page 2 you're saying...

:oops::whistle: :whistling:

Sorry, page spacing didn't come out just right on the PDF.

All Bud Jones chips, except for the V1 & R1 solid core chips (like the hot stamp suites mold above) can easily be relabled. After all they are just labeled chips to begin with. Most can take a non laminated label over the top (messy) of the existing label or up to the thicker laminated label by removing (easy) the existing label/decal.

I would also strongly suggest getting samples of whichever Bud Jones chips you going to use to see how they handle. they are an acquired taste. Lots of people have issues with how the handle/feel (not me of course)

Time/place?

I intended on getting samples before I bought, as the feel of BJs can vary greatly from one line to the next.

If you are hosting next fncpt I'll bring them for cash game use and leave them with you for a while. How bout dat?

I will likely be selling a set of Parkers soon. 500 chips with a small stakes cash breakdown (after labeling.)
So if you like them, keep tuned....:)

Nick has the next date, but I'll be there.

And if you leave them, I can't promise that you'll get them back, but that set that looks like a relabeled Parkers set? No that's a totally different set... I just picked those up off eBay.

Wait what did you buy? Pics or it didn't happen.

Man my comedic timing is waaaaay off today.

I was suggesting that I would relabel YOUR chips and play them off as a new set I purchased, and I don't know what happened to your chips...

I got it dude. As mike said. Check them out first. Im not a huge fan of them myself

As much as people complain about the slippery nature of BJ chips, they continue to show up in a lot of new casinos and venues. At some point I think I will have to get me a set ;)

Bud Jones are my favorite chips in a casino. They simply resist hand-funk far better than anything else.

That said, I have yet to see a home game played to the point chips picked up hand gunk, so their greatest feature in a home game is lost (unless you have a thing for washing chips).

In the home, I just like them. The ease of relabeling makes them great for customizing, though some labels are a little more work to remove the labels than others - but it's still far easier than a milling project. However you give up the solid "clack" of a clay chip, for something much quieter. I compare it to a car door closing on a '57 Chevy (Paulson sound) vs a car door closing on a 2017 Mercedes (BJ sound). Some people want that heavy thud. I like the quiet click.

I love the Bud Jones chips especially the sound they make when shuffled. I've been looking for a full set for awhile now.

where do you even buy a set like this?

GPI does not sell Bud Jones chips to the public. The only way to get your hands on a set is to purchase chips from a closed casino or to buy them at cost from an open casino.

I believe the chips pictured were the stack of Ryan Reiss at the Poker Stars Championship Barcelona Main Event and not for sale.

I'm interested in a set of S2 or V6's myself.

Race ya! First to collect all the chips wins?

That's so unfortunate. Thanks for the information. I almost pulled the trigger on a set for sale on eBay months ago from a closed casino somewhere in the north western part of the USA. Next time I'm going for it.
