I mean do you plan on just displaying the box? Trying to resell the whole thing? If you're trying to sell em, I'd imagine you could sell a lot of decks to recover your money then hang on to some, give em out as awesome gifts, etc.

I am not a playing card collector. It was just a deal. I think it will bring well over $10k at a well publicized casino memorabilia auction.

Just a hunch.

I think that the cachet of an item like this is the whole package, as is, more than the cards themselves. Damage to the outer packaging is either nothing that would have damaged the inner packaging, OR it's the reason Caesar's would have refused delivery and got us to where we are today.

There is a back story.
The owner of these cards is a retired Caesars employee. More than 40 yrs...
He had other Caesars items in small lots as well.

I think there was a Cartier watch given to him from Caesars as well

Well, based on that other thread, I think you made a fair deal. Even if you break it down to a "per deck", it is not outlandishly priced, especially if you throw in a premium for it being a CASE, and still having all the mailing ID info. Pretty cool.

Thanks.

You're probably better off not opening it...

To the OP: I'd also post your question on thechipboard.com. That is the forum for tons of folks who collect all kinds of memorabilia from casinos (mostly chips, but also other stuff), and at the very least, they'd be able to point you in the right direction.

Thanks for the advice!

I think that 10k is a fantasy. I am going to give you credit for having some experience in these sorts of "investments". In all seriousness, I think if someone were to offer you ~$2,000.00 you should take it. FAST.

Well, it may be a fantasy...

However, whenever you find something that 99% of the population has never seen and it has some emotional connection to many people, your value and my value may be meaningless.

One of the most recognizable names in Vegas.
Definitely vintage
Exact contents unknown (style)
Rarity (exclusivity)
Multiple directions of collectibility (cards & casino)

The keys to maximizing its potential value is marketing, marketing and marketing.

Need to find the right venue. (Auction)

Then the rest is up to the universe!

Thank you for your input and advice!

I wouldn't take it.

When you post on thechipboard.com, use your real name if you want serious responses.

What if the box, and shipping label was a cover, and there is actual cash inside. Sure it's a stretch, but consider Vegas in the time period you describe. It would kinda make sense for someone to ship a box that looked like a legit case of cards to the Cashiers Cage. And do all gaming supplies get sent to the cage?

I would open it. :whistling:

Lol! I love a great conspiracy!

I would just hate it for a PCF member to get taken. I know you will do what's right.

And by right I mean opening the box, taking a bunch of pics of your new found cash, and sharing with the group, lol
