I see that I should avoid Oxy clean and it's recommended to use an ultrasonic cleaner but is it safe to use dish soap and a bit of water to clean em? My quarters are getting hella gunky.

I have used a magic eraser for cleaning the edges of my old ASM set. Magic eraser then a damp cloth to clean the dust and re oil them.

DO NOT use ultrasonic with the standard TSP processes. Ultrasonic and tsp will eat the chips same as oxi. At one point I was going to do some tests on ASMs using dawn and an anti foaming agent. This was for the purpose of coming up with a method to clean horseshoe mold binion horseshoes. Ended up cleaning manually with dawn and a scrub brush, so never did the testing.

With too much time on my hands now, I unearth this thread to bring up a distant future issue:

How to clean heavily-used CPCs (if I live enough to use them that much, especially the bright whites)?
Is an ultra-sonic cleaner appropriate? (in which case, I should read a lot about ultra-sonic cleaners).

Dishwasher at the mildest program? (40 Celsius, short run) - I guess not, especially to protect the labels/inlays.
Hand-cleaning, the only option?
Regardless of the method, can any European member come up with an appropriate dish detergent brand? US branding is just useless for the rest of the world.
Clueless about which detergent in Europe contains which cleaning agent.
Just checked the cleaning agent(s) in the liquid dish "soap" marketed as "Fairy" here. Incomprehensible, other than the clear warning to not let it come to contact with your eyes.

Dawn is safe (and effective) on Burt/ASM/CPC chips, as is Simple Green. A stiff plastic bristle brush helps minimize the manual labor required. Water temp should not be so hot that you cannot keep your hands submerged comfortably.

Dawn generates too much suds to be used in an ultrasonic cleaner, but I have no idea about Simple Green's foaming tendencies.
