@BGinGA and anyone else who cares. Can this be improved at all? Setting this up for someone else (and maybe me in the future). He said 3 hours but his tournaments always go over so closer to 4 hours would be fine.

Players - 18 expected but could be up to 24 (no re-buys)

Starting Stack - I made it for 10k, but not crucial
10 x T100 || 4x T500 || 7x T1000 || Add 5ks as needed

Levels - 15 minutes with a 15 minute break every hour

Structure -
100/100
100/200
100/300
200/400 - 1 hour
break
300/600
500/1000
700/1400 - 2 hours
1000/2000
break - color up T100
1500/3000
2000/4000 - 3 hours
3000/6000
5000/10000
break - option T500 color up
7000/14000 - 4 hours
10000/20000

This is definitely not my preferred structure, but it was the best way I could think of to allow some play the beginning without it basically being a turbo but still have the tournament end in 3-4 hours.

Will check when i get home later today. Send me a pm reminder, please, in case the thread gets buried.

Not a fan of the two inconsistent 66% jumps at 600-1000 and 6000-10000, however.

T100-base T10000 tournament (100bb) with no re-buys:
.
lvl sb bb

L2 100 200
L3 100 300
L4 200 400

L7 600 1200
L8 800 1600

L15 8000 16000
L16 10000 20000
L17 15000 30000

With 15-minute levels and 24 players, event should last no longer than L14, or about 3.5 hours plus breaks -- and usually finishes two levels earlier. A 16-player field will slice off about 15 minutes. Plan on an extra 15 minutes run time for every extra T5000 added to the starting stacks.

All blind increases are 33%-50% (except one - 25% at L9), averaging 42%. And no 67% jumps. :)

I guess if it ain't broke don't fix it, because that's my go to structure. I wasn't sure it would finish fast enough, but I guess it will. Thanks (y)

I do it too, as does almost every tournament; however, I hate how you color up the 100's, and then only have 1 level where the 500's are needed.

I know they can be used in all of the other levels, but then they become a burden as well. Why is there never a 2500/5000 level

Funny you should mention that. I'm working on a set right now that would use a T100 base, and this is what I was looking at for a add-on tourney...

With only 4 per player, it's considerably less of an issue than if a bunch of 'em are in the starting stacks (or if they are improperly used as color-up chips). They can be quietly taken off the table without requiring a color-up break.

Why is there never a 2500/5000 level
Mostly because it doesn't fit in well with a 40% structure, and it adds extra time (which is usually an issue). Works fine in less aggressive structures, along with a later 7500/15000 level.

Your average chip stack is 33BB after 30 minutes. Increasing starting stacks to 20K may improve your tournament by extending deep stack play, especially where this is a MTT. Granted, this means the tournament will likely run over four hours, but you can schedule 12 minute breaks every 90 minutes if time is a huge problem.

You will hit level 16 at the 4:09 mark. 500/1000 and 700/1400 blind levels allows for a greater amount of play.
You can shave approximately 15 minutes by going with 16,000 for starting stacks. (160BB)
