anyone make out the chips in the charity poker game they played ?
Yes. It made me slightly ill ::coffee:anyone make out the chips in the charity poker game they played ?
I mean, better than dice chips, right?
Better than dice chips. I know how props are acquired / selected having done tons of art department. You have to realize that, especially in a TV show, the budget and schedule may vary widely and especially for a large tournament scene there was no time or budget for real chips. Maybe they had something better in place but the tournament scene got pushed up in the schedule ahead of delivery. Also for a single scene / episode good chips could be crazy cost prohibitive. Lots of props you see are rented, lenders or returned to retail to stretch the budget.I mean, better than dice chips, right?
In the book she (Molly) talks about "buying the best chips with the correct weight and feel that the players desire" in order to keep her game top notch. I'm thinking she must have had some form of Paulson chips IRL.I wonder if they'll have some outstanding customs in the Molly's Game movie.

I know a couple of people from that scene and they play high stakes cash games in NYC. In many of their games, they use Nexgen, plastic, China Clay, and various other chips that most chip lovers on this forum would never bring out even for their kiddie games. It's really strange how that works.
I wouldn't get my hopes up. I've literally never heard anyone describe their chips as "the best chips with the correct weight" and those chips ending up being anything but slightly upscale dice chips.
