Hi guys! New guy here to PCF and just picked up a used set of milanos and here's what we have to work with but the unfinished racks are driving me insane. I essentially want to make a 1000 ct. cash set and another 1000 ct. tourney set and my combination of the above and adding/removing excess would work. Would love to minimize cost but willing to purchase new chips if necessary.

$0.50 - 350
$1 - 350
$5 - 300
$10 - 250
$25 - 250
$50 - 150
$100 - 150
$500 - 100
$1000 - 50
$5000 - 50
$10000 - 50

Cash Set (For poker and table games with family/friends)

$0.50 - 300
$1 - 300
$5 - 300
$10 - 100

Tournament Set (w/ option for as many rebuys as possible)

$25 - 300 (+50)
$100 - 200 (+50)
$500 - 100
$1000 - 100 (+50)
$5000 - 100 (+50)
$10000 - 100 (+50)

The above here is only 900 chips and would like to add another rack to finish it off. I would need to purchase 250 more chips total to finish off current racks. Should I just throw in $50 -100 which will save me cost but most likely be useless IMO or add another rack of $25/$100 if they're needed? What do you guys think, open to all opinions!

Edit: Grammar

You should be selling chips, not buying more. You have a lot more than you likely need already

edit: or relabel some chips

Why 1000 chips in each set? Just to have 1000? That’s a bad reason. Get the right breakdown for your game.

For instance, you can spread a three-table tourney with 1000 chips, if the breakdown is right. Your proposed breakdown is not right for that.

If you are playing cash with family and friends then I am assuming stakes will be relatively low. We play a 25c/25c/ blind structure so both the big and small blind are 25c. You can obviously do the same thing with 50c if you so desire.

I use the following breakdown for cash:
$0.25 - 200
$1 - 200
$5 - 100
$20 - 10

At times I have hosted a full ring game with 9-10 people and never had an issue with running low on chips. Typically we only get about 1 or 2 barrels of the $5 chips on the table.

The point is you can easily host full ring games with a 500 pc set.

Tournament breakdown that allows for multiple tables and rebuys.

T25 - 200
T100 - 200
T500 - 100
T1,000 - 200
T5,000 - 200
T10,000 - 100

Total chips - 1,000

Single table up to 10 players.
$0.50 - 350
$1 - 350
$5 - 300
$10 - 250
$25 - 250
$50 - 150
$100 - 150
$500 - 100
$1000 - 50
$5000 - 50
$10000 - 50

Cash Set (For poker and table games with family/friends)

$0.50 - 300
$1 - 300
$5 - 300
$10 - 100

Tournament Set (w/ option for as many rebuys as possible)

$25 - 300 (+50)
$100 - 200 (+50)
$500 - 100
$1000 - 100 (+50)
$5000 - 100 (+50)
$10000 - 100 (+50)
That's way more chips than you will ever need for a single-table set that covers both 50c/$1 cash games and T25-base tournaments.

I'd recommend keeping the following chips, selling the remainder, and not using the $10 or T10000 chips at all:

600 chip single-table cash set:
100 x 50c
200 x $1
200 x $5
100 x $25

Those 400 chips = $3750 bank, or $375 average stack per player (should be plenty)

400 chip T100-base single-table tourney set:
100 x T100
80 x T500
100 x T1000
100 x T5000
20 x T25000

20K starting stacks are 10/8/10/1, with plenty of extra T5000 chips to cover color-ups, re-buys, and larger starting stacks (up to 100K).

Combined cash/tourney sets = 1000 chips, with no overlap or dual-usage of any denominations. Requires purchase of 120 chips (50 xT1000, 50 x T5000, and 20 x T25000).

Then sell these 1,170 chips:
$0.50 - 250
$1 - 150
$5 - 100
$10 - 250
$25 - 150
$50 - 150
$100 - 50
$500 - 20
$10000 - 50

You're a god.

Swap out .50s for quarters, more versatile, allows you to play smaller stakes if necessary. Lose the 10s and 50s, they are useless.
