So I was thinking how awesome it would be for @Ben8257 and I to have a poker date night for valentine's day. I mentioned this to him saying it would be wonderful to play some low stakes poker at a casino for a date! His response: that sounds fantastic!! Looks in wallet, oh yeah, still broke! :ROFLMAO:

(Hes probably got a point, we probably shouldnt be dunking off our cash before @MegaTon44's meet up lol....)

Thought it was a cute idea, had wondered if anyone here has ever planned a date night like this??

Going out....a fun thing my wife and I did before we had kids. Just 18 more years until we get to do it again!!

My wife likes poker but would not consider it a candidate for date night. We do enjoy playing sequence though, and you might enjoy that game. The plastic chips can be replaced with clay ones and you could also play with other couples. Sometimes we play Guys versus girls and the smack talk is epic.

My wife plays (@Chippy McChiperson says she's better than me - which isn't saying much, I realize  :ROFLMAO: ) and we've gone to the Horseshoe for a nice dinner and some cards. Can't say we've done it for Valentine's Day, but not a bad idea at all if you're both into poker...
Awwww!!!! I feel like it would be fun! And it would be a "first" poker date for us!

Yeah, there's no chance at all that my wife would go for me having a poker night the same night as a Valentine's dinner. Trying to lobby my crew to have our game the Sunday after Valentine's Day instead.

If you're both into it, why not?

Go to one a fine dining restaurant like in the Inner Harbor or a Steakhouse at one of the casinos, Catch a show like Wicked which is playing in Baltimore in February. Or go see a Concert you both like. My wife and I saw Wicked and we both liked it, and then go to Gamble for a few hours at the Casino.

We've done it. Made a monthly game our ghetto date night.

Just each toss up five bucks, do some low stakes, winner takes the other to taco bell and orders for them...

Lets hope the loser loves 5 cheese wraps and a water... Such a hot date.
Gotta love the juxtaposition. Playing for 5 cheese wraps with....a couple grand worth of clay disks.

I'm just lucky the Wind Creek Bethlehem Casino has outlet Shopping. Coach and Michael Korrs can turn any weekend night into a poker night for me. Just add in a Emeril's Steakhouse and then it becomes a Date Night.

@FordPickup92 forget about godamn poker on Valentine's day.
If both you and @Ben8257 can carry it off, you go alone to a bar and have dudes flirt you. Then, have Ben come pick you up with a carefully chosen "pathetic" line, driving the poor other dudes crazy.
It takes though some social experience, and readiness to employ inexhaustible reserves of sense of humour, if not everything goes according to script:p

With 4 young kids my wife and only get 3-4 date nights per year. So we aren’t going to try using one of them to go out when everybody is too.

Valentine’s Day is just another day to us. We will get the kids some candy or chocolates but that will be it.

We also recently cut back our date nights. Were down to one a week :)

While Mrs Zombie and I dont do specific poker date nights, most vacations involve at least one poker session.

It's important to have separate hobbies, but a shared hobby is even better.

A poker player's partner should be able to at least deal:D
I'm a great dealer, thanks for sharing photos @detroitdad looks like lots of dates shared over a beer!
We don't even need to have fancy dinner, just degen gambol and chipes!!!!! Hehe I agree sometimes going out into the hubbub on a "holiday" can be overwhelming. Guess were still young lol probably when were older itll be more like 5 soft shells and a beer!

I'm in a similar situation. Valentine's day to us means the family will be having a nicer than usual home cooked meal (that I'll likely post to the What's for Dinner? thread). We save our date nights for when we want to go out and relax, not wait in line.

Poker night with the wife sounds fun, but she isn't into poker. When we get together with her family they like to play cards for fun, I've been trying to get them into poker with a low stakes tournament but their excuse is their mom will say it's too complicated and won't play. Sadly poker is only for my nights out with my poker crew.

My girlfriend said she needed a rest. So I’ve booked her a table...

Edit: just googled it and found out that what we call a rest you guys call a bridge... no wonder that joke didn’t land

Maybe just offer a "teacher night" with no stakes at first just to give it a try, and have a card or poster prepared explaining the game and the hands that are possible winners, pictures really helps! Ben tought me just playing one on one for a few weeks until I got the hang of it

Agreed - poker is always more fun with stakes, but a poker tournament is a game like any other, and the only staks needed in most games is "bragging rights".

Mrs Zombie and I still play heads up on a regular basis. Sure, we put money on the outcome now, but it wasn't always that way.

Chips for V day? Sounds like a perfect gift! Super excited!!

Since I slightly totaled my car on weds, I dont know if we will be making a trip for casino date night... maybe MD live? Still not even sure what the dinner plans are! :ROFLMAO: I think we can wing it!
