Inspired by @msuroo and his traveling gear labels on Paulson...

Due to interest in a possible Abbiati GB, I’m offering people to borrow my sample set of 15 chips. US only. The cost is just the amount to ship it to the next person on the list or back to me. Post here for interest and I will make a list

Matsui better thanBud Jones?
Think he meant BJ greater than Matsui, but less than Abbiati
Correct.

To me, Matsuis are so slippery that they just can't contend with either.
Of Bud Jones and Abbiati, I find that Abbiati are less slippery, have less suction when cutting, and have a brighter sound when shuffling. YMMV

Totally agree BJ (at least the Yakama's I was able to play with) are much better than the Matsui's I handled.

I have a set of Matsui’s and brand new they are like air hockey pucks.
Here is an experiment I’m working on with Matsui’s to make them less slippery:

Edit: To me the Abbiati’s feel fantastic for plastics. I love plastics, but I can definitely say I enjoy shuffling TRKs or Paulsons. Plastics have a different appeal to me.

My personal ranking:

1st - BJ - Abiatti
2nd - Matsui
3rd - BG

Having several sets of all brands present, except abiatti (some barrels harvested in a casino near my home), I place BG in the last position, this because they wear too fast for plastic chips. Only at cleaning, they wear out.

I watched the video of your test with great interest. In the end, what are your conclusions about the process? Will you do it all over your set?

I had to read that you waited for other chips to multiply the tests. In any case, I am eagerly waiting to hear the report.

I love my BW set - almost as much as my PCA/Aztar set of mint Paulsons. The BW chips were made by Sun Fly correct? Sun-Fly definitely > Matsui IMO, jury is out on BJ/Abbiati vs. Sun-Fly's for me

Yeah, I don’t think I mentioned it but my samples were 43mm. My customs are 39.75mm so I just want to be on the extra safe side. I feel very optimistic about sanding my chips in the future

I remember your 39,75mm tricolor set. Difficult to forget the image of 20 Matsui racks stacked on a chair;)

In any case I thank you for sharing. Always interesting to learn this kind of maintenance techniques.

That’s quite the compliment for Sunfly’s! What I would do for a set of Mint PCAs
The only thing I would disagree with is that I don’t think it’s fair to compare ceramics to plastics; 2 different worlds. Sure, compression mold and ceramics are grippier than plastics, but in my opinion each type of chip material has its own unique appeal. To me, plastics are more ‘new school’ or even techy modern - and if I were to design the decals, the theme would be designed accordingly. I love the sound and shuffle feel of compression mold, but it doesn’t even come to mind in terms of comparison when I handle plastic chips in play. I enjoy plastics for their individual characteristics: sharp mold patterns, bright colors, inner rings, flashy decals, durability, etc.
The first chip that caught my eye was the BJ V7s from borgada. Unfortunately that was before I even knew chipping was a thing and I don’t own any V7s (or BGs) for comparison.
Matsui to me has the prettiest mold patterns and decals. When the chips become worn a bit, they naturally become less slick. Also, I don’t think they pick up any hooker juice.
Abbiati’s are superior in brighter colors, and flatness. The material also feels softer, almost rubbery which produce a different sound and feel, which I like. The combination of flatness and texture makes them stack much better than Matsui’s. They do pick up hooker juice though - the samples going around have been cleaned with Dawn and tooth brush.
On an end note on ceramics; I really like that the whole face and edge of the chip can be designed like a canvas. What tilts me are the injection ports and non-uniform edges (the top edge is not exactly the same as the bottom edge) on most of the molds. Chipco produced a mold where the edges were sharp and injection ports milled away. Those were crazy!

Where are these samples now? Just checking in - haven't seen any movement in this thread for a few weeks. Thanks!

May I be added to the list? Not sure these will get around to me before the GB but would be great to see them in person.

Is there anyway these can be shipped to Canada? Will pay extra for the shipping to receive.
