Figure I might have one or two updates while living the high life with BonScot and Nessy over in Europe. Might as well have a place to put em and gather any suggestions.

First post is for the little guys, tight and snug. If this thing falls from 10,000 feet, my hope is that the China Clays sacrifice themselves on the top and bottom to save the delicious middle chips. I won’t see these again for about a month, hopefully the next update is that they’ve made it safely by train and boat (first moving company forgot em).

A large amount of chips are also making the journey from Kifer’s closet to my house to be thrown aboard the boat to France. That being said, we’ve landed in our final location this month while we house hunt.

In the likely event that we are bound and killed by our hosts, or more likely disappear after the spirits take us, as a community please send my samples back to original owners, and charity auction the rest of the inventory for toys for tots and STEM programs in underfunded communities.

Who needs eyes?

Doors locked from the outside are always a good sign! This is to keep the “feral cats”, who break into the basement, out of the house.

Fairly certain I’ve seen her roaming the grounds on long evenings after midnight.

Don’t listen if they say I “fell”.

But, you mean, any chips at my house I get to keep in the event you die. Right.... This is a contract right? @Hornet .... Right?

What is this massive case? Can you stack 2 racks on top of each other?

That massive case has foam on the bottom, followed by rack/foam/rackrack/foam/rackrack (I think). It’s not movable though, movers are going to have to dolly it out.
Wow!! Where did you find it? I might try one and build the base up to hold double stacks... yes even 3000 chips is heavy but I would like to try!!

Absolutely. Offer, acceptance, and consideration. You can pay me in chips, thanks.
I love when you’re Ruxpin. And hilariously, I didn’t learn you were a lawyer until a month or two ago and forgot to put 2 and 2 together.

Kifer, if I don’t log onto PCF for a week, an email of my inventory and purchases automatically posts itself as a safety measure against your hoarding self.

Well, I mean... Odds of that happening are great based on the track record... Hahahahaha

I couldn't help myself. I'm tired.

I don't know who you are. But my uncle Jeff Kifer loves me and keeps sending me stuff. Wonderful old man!

It’s Ruxin, dude! Ruxpin is a toy bear. :ROFLMAO:

So.......the chips were packed up at home, safe and sound (except for a couple hundred roulettes from a past Chip Room Sale. Woke up one night, sat straight up in bed, and remembered those are still loose in a box under the bed at home, pray for em).

But they were going to be so lonely in the shipping container and in France! It's going to be hard to purchase and add to them with the international shipping and fees and taxes, oh my. So, I took what chipping finances I had left and picked up a couple chips. If I couldn't use em, at least they'd get a free ride to France! (work is paying for the initial shipping container to come over)

Josh Kifer was stupid kind enough to collect the purchases, pack them tight and safe for their overseas voyage, and send em to my house in the US.

While I wont see them for another month, it was fun to watch his closet fill up.

While I'm sure they won't need to be, let's hope these boxes are shipwreck proof! Thanks to Josh for unwittingly signing up and being an all around good dude. I'm sure I'll only be missing 5-700 chips when they get it in.

I’m praying for your chips. There will be no pilferage, loss, spillage, breakage or shenanigans! It’s a long journey.
If customs opens one box, and then the gun cases, and then sees all the chips....there’s no way they’re thinking it’s all above board.

Edit: for clarity, the gun cases are filled with more chips, not guns.

I hid three guns in the boxes as "little surprises"

Side note, for what it’s worth. The European market for chips appears to be extremely different than North America (I didn’t necessarily expect the same or different).

Anyone with experience (supporting or debunking this) care to share their knowledge?

If anything I'd say EU users are a lot more sticky, since getting nice sets is very cost prohibitive due to shipping and customs handling from North America. How would you call it different?

Super early on, but seems like a palpable difference in taste and desire for samples, especially customs (less). Definitely more sticky, and am I right that while the markets may be similar, EU price increases came a bit before the upswings in the US?

(Based on very little insight, mostly (un?)educated guessing, was just curious what others with actual knowledge like you had to say.)

Not sure there is an actual separate EU market? Maybe in France secifically there is, I can't tell but I've looked at the french forum before and it seems quite active and like it's own eco system I guess (I don't read french though, lol). I can only speak for Norway and here there is nothing. Most people here are used to ceramics, as most underground clubs use custom ceramics of some sort. For Paulsons the few of us on here is just an extension of the US market. I agree we have to be more sticky or sell at a loss some times. Buying in TCR sales is usually ok, as the price increase of the chips after the sale is usually enough to cover tax/shipping, lol.

Maybe so for just France. Strange that France represents such an uneven percentage of the European chipping market, or at least that we recognize.

  1. In France, when a casino is closing, chips are destroyed most of the time. I m buying chips since 10 years and i saw only 2 casino chips sell. ACF and cesar palace multicolore in a legal auction.
  2. We can found some chips sold on eBay by 2 or 3 when someone take them in the casino but it s forbiden too.
  3. Most of the french chips are from BG, no paulson, asm, bcc or trk, just plastic and ceramic no clay here :banghead:
  4. When we order chips To TCH, we take the risk to pay 33% taxe fee for each package.
  5. Shipping coast from usa have increase in 3 years from 15 to 30$ for 100 chips and from 45 to 70 for 600.
Whatever, there is a small community of chips addict but as there is no more dedicated forum on chips (twice before, 0 today, french paradox ) the only place where we can meet us, is a global poker forum. So may be it s not easy to found it on Google cause it is not specialised.
I don't know if i can post the url here so don t hesitate to ask me if needed, sometime there is good ads.
