Lurker for quite some time who decided to take the dive and buy my first set (the week before my wedding... a little to me from me gift :).) I was lucky enough to score the t500 jacks set on the recent sale.

Am I stupid to put these fresh chips into play? They are so mint it’s difficult to shuffle them. I was so obsessed with getting brand new chips and feel blessed I got a set, but is it blasphemous to have mint chips as my first set then put them in play?

What're your thoughts - should the Jacks be stored/saved and I should look into a different set for 1/2 2/5 games or phuck it, should I keep them forever and use them.

Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks!

Not at all -- chips are tools, meant to be used, and tactile pieces of art, meant to be enjoyed hands-on..... even nice minty ones.

Best part of buying mint chips is that after a few uses, they become slightly broken-in and PERFECT for play. Enjoy 'em.

Beyond excited. Now I have to finish off the set with some more racks, and likely sell off some 100s. I need it get it wrapped up before the the wedding (next Saturday). I won’t be able to get away with purchases like this, id imagine..

CONGRATULATIONS on the wedding and on your first set!!

I definitely have a dissenting view point relative to pretty much everybody else here.

First off, they're your chips, so do what makes you feel best. My perspective is that there are collector sets and there are playable sets. If you have both....life will be grand!! I am a collector and a player, so I have both. I don't collect because I hope to make money off them some day. I collect because I LOOOVVVEEEEE the feel and look of minty fresh chips. Hell, most of my poker peeps, with the exception of @Lil Tuna couldn't even tell you what minty chips are.

So, my advice to you is (1) pay off your wedding expenses then (2) buy 3 more sets--Paulson playable, TRK playable, and TRK mint. Then you will the best of all worlds!!

Good luck and enjoy!!

you are going to sell of the 100s, I assume that you will be using fracs in your set? What chip were you looking at to use as a .25 or .50 chip?

I’m guessing fracs are other chips you mix in, right? Just guessing this off posts I’ve read.

I’m simply looking to add more $1 and $5 chips for 1/2 1/3 2/5

@mcguiles you’ve posted 3 times in your own thread about your first chip set without any pics?
