Hey everyone,

I know I’ve been asking a lot of questions the last couple days but I have a few more. I am curious what everyone’s opinions are on tournaments stacks? Playing stacks with only 39mm chips vs. including 43mm chips for the higher denominations? I’m currently building my first tournament set which happens to be JACKS. I am wanting to complete the set with 43mm chips for the higher denominations but I am realizing how expensive the higher denominations are. In your opinions do you feel like it's worth having the larger sized chips and spending that money? Or is it better to cut cost and possibly relabel 39mm chips to make higher denominations?

Thanks everyone,

36mm T25, 39mm T100/500, 43mm T1k+ - tilt city?

Edit: for the record I’m with @wonderpuddle with a very very slight preference given to #2. Worth the extra cost? Imo most of the time no. Maybe if only doing 1 upper chip denom in 43mm

You're thinking small potatoes. This is better:

T5 = 36mm chip
T25 = 39mm chip
T100 = 43mm chip
T500 = 46mm chip
T2000 = 50mm chip
T10000 = 68mm plaque
T50000 = 82mm plaque
T250000 = 94mm plaque
T1000000 = 107mm plaque
Bounty = dinner plate

Or 39-43-47-49-60 if going all ceramic.

I'm in the all one size camp. I've not seen this mentioned. One reason for all one size is storage, and probably travel, is less complicated.

Matsui racks are the answer. The accommodate both sizes and work great. I use them to travel with my mixed sets all the time.

This would tilt me so hard.

Grantc54, could you post a pic? I'm sure many would like to see how you do that. Even if someone (like me) doesn't use racks, that might given them new ideas.

Where is the octogon 44mm plaque ? :eek:

Yeah, me too. :D All 43mm or all 50mm is fine, but I've had sets that mixed 39mm and 43mm chips, and it just felt awkward. Surprisingly, not as much with all 39mm and plaques for the high denoms, though. But having two different sizes of plaques for the higher denoms def felt weird, too.

I’ve already seen these ... in the best « fantasy » set ever.
These?

My general preference is for all the same size, but I have two sets with different size chips.

I have a BCC Mardi Gras set with 39mm chips, 5K - 44mm ceramic octagons and 25K plaques. I thought they could be awkward, but they're really not. My players seem to really like the high denoms being something completely different, plus you know James Bond Casino Royale made plaques a high stakes stable for the chip-layman...

So I'm thinking on this subject myself when deciding on my custom set. I like the idea of having 43mm chips for higher denomination. But where do you begin oversizing the chips? 1k? 5k? 25k? Also do you also do oversized on cash chips or just tourney chips?

I like oversized denoms. Prefer 1k and up
I was thinking maybe 5k and up. We use a ton of 1k chips in ours so I feel like it kinda hurts the uniqueness of it. What about cash? Do you maybe oversize a $100 chip? I mean for my cash games $100 chips are the biggest it gets.

This is very subjective, but if it helps you, WSOP uses larger chips for their higher demons. I think the 500K and 1M chip are both 43mm
