Good read. I snorted at the beginning when it talked about the club with shirtless players getting massages from scantily clad women. That part seemed doubtful.

Yes, pretty good read and not much going on down here in San Antonio. We have several clubs and none have ever been raided that I am aware of. In fact one of my sons is a dealer in one and that club does pretty well.

I said a long time ago it was always about the "Big Guy" who owns the casinos in Louisiana and Oklahoma is behind getting the card rooms closed in DFW and Houston. Too close to his properties and they do not like their players being pulled from them. Not much close to Austin or San Antonio so those are flying under their radar for now

I just finished reading it. Of course it's a political game - and one that isn't being played in DFW - no one can touch the influence of tribal Oklahoma money. My buddy and I have inquired several times to local politicians - it's ain't happening up here anytime soon.

No rush compares to playing poker with an overweight shirtless guy with back hair that just put you all in while getting a back massage!

I thought it was an interesting read, if nothing else for a perspective on how the laws work to allow (not, not allow) these clubs.

Laws are written a fair bit differently up here, any benefit to the house is considered rake, so a membership model with rake free games like they have here is still prohibited.
