The atomiktoasters and OWPS awesome dealer button group buy that is just finishing up made me start thinking about a Point Defiance dealer button. The package with all my chips in it that arrived today really made me start thinking of it...

Anybody interested? I have zero art skills or any thing of value I could add to the project other than buying some when they are done, but I thought I would put the thread out there and see if there was any interest in getting something done.

I thought about doing a vector version of the hot stamp, but I couldn't find a clean enough scan of the chip.

I am in for one, and can guarantee another member would be in for one/two. So put me down for 3 min.

And as an aside, I'd love to see a version in bright red/or blue to match the $.50 or $5 chip colors... I've got a ton of black/white buttons, and non seem all too easily seen on the felt. Be nice to have a bright colored one for a change?

I like the new orange and yellow Aztar buttons for that reason. Red and blue get used for cards and felt pretty frequently though.

I feel stupid to admit that I'm not completely sure what the hotstamp actually is. Is it a bluff seen from the water, like the pointe that is referenced? That's my best guess, yet I haven't really taken a good look at them since they got here. lol Other times it looks like a car ferry to me, Washington has the largest fleet of ferries in the US so maybe I am just so used to seeing that logo it starts to look like that to me.

It's for sure a ferry. Here is the Point Defiance to Vashon Island ferry, looks exactly like the hotstamp (although pointed in the opposite direction).

When I first saw it I thought ferry, but then for some reason I ended up thinking about the bluff seen from the water. The ferry image is really ubiquitous up here, they are everywhere and all look basically the same, so I thought I was just seeing things. Now that I actually took a chip out of the box and looked at it you are absolutely right. You can even see a few cars lined up in front on the bottom deck.

I had a few spare minutes this evening and whipped up a couple of simple designs in Photoshop. These can be done with different background colors but for simplicity I did them in Black and White. Just a couple of ideas if anyone really wants to proceed with a button for Point Defiance.
Version one mimics the chip. Version 2 is just messing around with the same elements.

Just FYI, the red is not part of the design. It is the bleed line. I am sure everyone may know already but wanted to make sure.

Any other ideas?

This is a start if 12thman wants to do something I am obviously interested.

Just what TriHonda has already stated, I'm in for a PD button or two.

I'm liking where this is going. I am going to scan the chips and send them to atomiktoaster a little later, we'll see what he can come up with as well.

Again, the only thing I can offer for this project is starting the thread to gauge interest and buying some of the final product. I know that I will buy a couple at the least no matter what is decided on because of the quality of the artist and vendors that would be involved in any dealer button made. From what I've seen produced over the last couple of years I am extremely confident in whatever is decided upon. Anybody that wants to throw a design or ideas into the ring should feel free to, the idea/design that will get whittled down to a final draft and whatever vendor produces them will be a winner for sure.

Any more thoughts on this? I have some time now that the pinup buttons are ordered.

I'm on my way home, I'll check when I get there and re send if necessary.

Also, I think I would be in for four, just to get some numbers going.

Here's a rough draft. The colors are just placeholders. If you guys like the text and stamp art I can do some different of colors and backgrounds to see what works best.
