I know, nothing to do with chips, but you have to deal something, right? So . . . what do you like to pitch across the felt?

Current favs are the Desjgn Classic Culture. I love the thin, buttery feel when shuffling them and the unique pip/court card designs are a nice change from the norm.

Rich, buttery feel? You sampling your avatar already? J/K . . . I like the Desjgn cards just fine. Have an uncut sheet framed and awaiting my poker room.

lol I'm hungry right now if you couldn't tell. I have one of those uncut sheets too that still needs framing.

Depends on the game. For PLO,Bicycle Prestige are my current favorites, with Four52 poker size standard index being a close second. For hold'em, it's a toss up between the Fournier WSOP, Modiano PA, and Desjgn Classic Victorians. Just tried the Modianos at our season finale over the weekend, and they worked well. They are definitely stiff cards, though.

Yes, but they do work in nicely. Which is not to say they get softer and softer with use . . . just that they do end up with a little more give after repeated use. Still the stiffest cards I own, though.

I have to admit, I'm partial to these...

I like modiano my self and have had only one person complain out of our group. " these are to slippery"

I have Kem (USPC), Modiano Platnium, and Copag 1546. My group and I prefer the Kem but a slight margin over the Copag. They also complain about the Modiano feeling slippery.

For those Canadian's with multiple hosts or looking for a few decks of plastic cards, Straight Poker Supplies is having a sale on Bicycle Prestige cards (10 decks for $64.99...5 red/5 blue). Since they offer free shipping at $65, all you need to do is buy a cut card and they ship for free.

Not a hit, but I would be bringing a gas can . . . paper cards are an abomination before the Lord. I will cleanse them with fire.

I seem to be accumulating cards as quickly as chips. For my tournaments I use Modiano cards. I have a setup of the Platinum Acetates for STT but when we get to 2 tables I add 2 packs of the Texas Poker decks because they're pretty similar but have the different colours. All jumbo index/poker size.

I've also just got 4 packs of the Cristallos which are also good but I'm not sure I like the 4-pip jumbo index as much. Plus I have a variety of Copags including the 4 colour decks (too thin for me) and Fournier 2826s (regular, bridge size), which I like but I'm not sure work so well with on large tables.

My new standard has been the Prestige cards but I've got 2 sets of Jdesigns too. Might whip those out one of these days.

They are my precious so I don't want to risk ruining them. Especially the red and blue being those aren't available anymore. We've got one or two terrible shufflers in my group of regulars.

We played with light green and purple backed Modiano cards last night, which raised a few eyebrows with the more macho of our players!

If they give you any guff, just tell them that they're Italian . . . and that they are the Ferrari of playing cards. That'll end the "macho" crap right there.

You'll find the Desjgn cards easier to shuffle than the Prestiges. To my mind, they feel like Copags with texture.

We played with the std index Modiano PAs at our last tourney. They worked well, but man, they are definitely stiffer than most other plastics. I got a workout shuffling the decks while dealing for the heads-up portion...thought I might look like Popeye in the morning.

"Best" is subjective, and I agree that the Modiano Platinum Acetates are really nice. Are they the best? That's tougher.

At the risk of incurring the wrath of Milo013...

If I had to rank my setups in order of most favorite to least favorite:

Poker size, Jumbo Index
1) Fournier WSOP Breakout
2) Fournier EPT Gold
3) Modiano Platinum Acetate
4) Desjgn Classic Victorian
5) Cartamundi ACE (These are #1 if price is the number 1 consideration...at under $5/deck at Target in Canada, they are an absolute bargain).
6) Ovalyon Jumbo
7) Bicycle Prestige (these would rank higher if they had red/blue backs and slightly smaller pips)
8) Four52 Jumbo (these would rank higher if they had red/blue backs)
8) Marion Pro

Poker sized Standard Index
1) Modiano Platinum Acetate
2) Bicycle Prestige (These are #1 if price is the number 1 consideration...when on sale, they are an absolute bargain).
3) Four52
4) Kem Arrow

I haven't used my bridge size setups enough to make a judgement. Of the two I've used (Kem 2011 WSOP and Congress/Fournier), I prefer the Congress cards. I haven't ranked Copags since I don't own any other than the bridge sized ones that are still wrapped. The ones I've used are ok, but I'm not fond of the blocky/square font they use.

Honestly, it's almost a toss-up between the Fournier and the Modiano, but I just prefer the "look" used on the Fourniers. Overall, I seem to prefer a more sturdy card, and the Fourniers and Modianos are quite close in that respect. Still can't see parting (again) with my Desjgn CV's, though.
