Looking for some ideas from the PCF brain trust.

I’m looking to up the number of games from monthly to fortnightly. Only thing is with the GF’s shift pattern it’s not ideal to host here. Was thinking of hiring a room but not having much luck finding one online so was wondering if anyone on here does this and what sort of venues they hire.

Yeah I’m just looking for ideas. Saw a couple of Air BnBs that might work. I posted this in case anyone had an amazing idea that I hadn’t thought of...

Be sure to learn your local laws before doing this.

In at least one state here in the US, a legal, unraked home game becomes illegal if you move it to a non-residential location.

That state? Florida of course.
It’s pretty lax here so should be ok. Plus two police inspectors (rank above sergeant) play in my game  :ROFLMAO:

I used to rend an office in an industrial zone during 4 years. Cheap rent per month and at night all the workshops around were closed so plenty of parking space for free.
Now I have access to a big cellar, and only cost me some bottles of wine in exchange.
However moving the tables around became a pain in the back.

It might see if I can find anything like that.

Don't know if they have things like Moose Lodges in Scotland, but if you know a member...

it’s a bit more “involved”

I take it you don’t want to have it in a pub? I’m sure finding a back room/function suite would be easy. Or plenty would have their own poker table probably.

We’ve played our own game in a casino before too. Only downside is obviously having to buy booze at considerably more than a crate of beer from the supermarket.

That’s one of the reasons. There’s a pool hall nearby that has poker tables however it’s pretty expensive for drinks. Also it’s only licensed until midnight and my games tend to last longer.
The more I look at it the more I’m thinking Air BnB is the way to go...

Do you have anything that would be the equivalent of a VFW Hall, American Legion, or Elk's Lodge over there? They usually have spare spaces available for short-term rental, typically with a full bar and fairly priced cocktails. And they love having younger folk around.

My crew sometimes stays at hotels for sports events. Sometimes hotels have board rooms that work great!

Pubs and bars often have back rooms or basement rooms that you can nab.

You can often usually get the space free, if you're bringing enough bodies in.

The pain is they'll kick you into touch as soon as they have a paid hire, like a party

The only thing with that type of venue is that they’re only licensed to sell alcohol until 11pm or midnight. My games usually last until 2 or 3am.
