I haven't seen a thread like this here yet so I'll start the wailing and moaning:

My complete cash set of ASM Nevada Jacks clays. My set also had 25¢ chips too. I WAS A DAMNED FOOL to sell that set. Yeah, yeah, I needed the money, but does anyone need money THAT badly? The inlays were the most clever theme I have ever seen: A jack (playing card) folded to form the shape of Nevada, ergo, NEVADA JACKS. The mold was the NEVADA mold with the cards and dice. Although the edge spots were single color and all 312's, it was a gorgeous set. STUPID, STUPID, STUPID! FeltLizard over at CT has them now.

Oh my. I've never fallen in love with a hot stamped chip before. Ever. But those photos made my heart skip a beat. Wow. (Plus, I NEED a set of TRKs - I don't have any at all!)

Links, my best advice to you is to forgive yourself. I don't need to know the details to know that you were under some sort of extreme duress when you let those beauties go - perhaps heavy alcohol consumption, or maybe still shaking off the effects of general anesthesia after major surgery, or even something mundane like just having been smacked across the back of the head with a frying pan by your wife. Whatever it was, it wasn't your fault. Keep your chin up. You'll find love again!

LOL....they funded [a portion of] my custom ASM cash set which I am in love with. These are, however, my biggest regret chip-wise. Every couple of months I PM the guy that bought them from me asking if he's interested in selling them back to me. He's smarter than I am and isn't interested in selling. Last I heard from him, they were being thoroughly enjoyed by his league players. :)

Those TRK's are amazing looking. I've never even held one of their leaded goodness! Someday I'll have to try and get a sample set.

I don't really have a regret selling wise (yet) but I do regret not buying all the GCR's when I saw them on eBay.

I regretted selling a barrel of Terrible's St. Jo primary $500s. The good news is that I got them back. ;)

I can't beat that King's Crown seller's remorse. That's bad!

But I used to have over 2000 mint PNY chips (both a cash and tourney set) -- miss those quite a lot.

Afterthefact those are some nice looking chips! I really like the 5's

Those 1's and 100's are sweet looking! Scratch that, they are all sweet looking!

Yeah... I'd really be having some serious remorse over that, too!

Annnnnd... I'd be having remorse on top of remorse over that set!

Must have been some viral plaque sweeping the world that affected the part of the brain responsible for cognitive thinking and decision making ability. Who knows?

Well, someone paid me a lot of moola to buy them. So I made out ok... And 1 guess where that money went... More chips, lol

Um, essentially, it's paid for custom chipshippie dealer buttons x3, 2400 Championship Poker Series group buy chips, 600 chip add-on to my Milanos, 700 par-a-dice Paulson chips, 400 Benny's Paulsons, 150 yellow Paulson hot stamps from the 1970s, and a few odds/ends (Casino sample sets, etc..). By the way, that doesn't even include the white chips, as those stayed with the Benny's.

^^^^^. Has helped ease the pain ;)

oh well,
selling's remorse,
the few empress $100 primary mint I had (approximately 30)
the grand victoria secondary little set I owned ($25 to $1000).
I finally kept a HU set.
I think my remorses are really worse on what I missed
(ie the benny's including fracs, pca RHC roulette, last bcc gcr GB, aces...)

^^^^. This, for sure.

which is sad, cuz anytime something comes out, now I'm like "buy, buy, buy"

You got me thinking

You know I'm glad I found this today. I just purchased a set of original Bud Jones "Nevada" mold of C/L. I am in LOVE with this set. The thing is I have had a set of 540 Paulson Zodiacs that I have used as my main set for the last 10+ years. I found myself thinking that I would sell my Paulson Zodiacs now that I have these Bud Jones, but I'm not sure what to do. The Pauslons have so many great memories tied to them and I don't want to be the next guy on this board going "I can't believe I did that....". Thanks guys

Welcome to PCF. So what chips are you keeping?

I just don't know. This whole thing has me thinking. I look at everyone else's chip collection and it seems like I'm a bit behind the curve. This is all new to me. I'm a very small chip collector. I gather chips from here and there and place them on display in my poker room. I really thought the Paulson Zodiacs chips were going to be my end all beat all but this Bud jones set just fell out of the sky and it was to good to pass up. Not to mention what I paid for them. I thought they were Blue Chip at first but once I saw the case and how long the chips had been in the family that I bought it from I started researching them. I never knew Bud Jones made a true clay chip. It was my research that lead me to this sight and now I'm a member. I can honestly say I have killed my Saturday afternoon looking at all the galleries and such. Your guys sets are unreal. Anyway thanks for the warm welcome and have a great Sunday - RGF

Though to be fair I am going to have the Bud Jones appraised. I mean if the price was right I guess I couldn't say no. But I'm not going to make any quick decisions.

ahhhhhh. So you were the one who beat me to those Nevada mold chips on CL. I was third in line for those!

Nice score and welcome

Also I don't think those are BJs. If you look up the history of the mold, it would seem that these are from Burt and Co, which became ASM and is now CPC.

You know Rich that thought did cross my mind. I came across this link on Robert Eisenstadt's Antique Gambling Chips & Gambling Memorabilia Web Site. The link lead to a really great article on the Bud Jones "Nevada" Mold written by David Spragg. At the bottom of the article he had am email link. I sent him all the pictures I took of the set. He emailed me back the next morning. He ruled out BCC right away. He felt that they were BJ's based on the die colors. In fact the Blue $25.00 Chips in the article are an exact match to the set. Either way they were more than worth the money I paid. If any member can tip me off to where I can have these sent for an appraisal I am all ears. I'm telling you it's only day one for me on this site and I can't believe the man hours lost. (It's OK I didn't really want to mow the lawn today anyway).

I forgot to mention that I reached out to Gene Trimble about this set as well. He has some good articles about Burt Co. Maybe he can help.

So good news (Not that anyone cares besides me) but Mr. Trimble answered my email and wrote me back giving me a real lesson in how these chips came to be. Rich you were right in a certain aspect. At least in Mr. Trimble's opinion the Chips were manufactured by Burt Co in the early to mid 80's (pre 85) and hot stamped and sold by Bud Jones.

Here is a small part of the info he sent to me. I figure most of you already know this but I am fascinated by this and can't seem to get enough.

Bud Jones had Burt make the Nevada mold in 1965.
Who MADE your chips? Burt more than likely prior to 1985.
Who sold your chips to whoever WK was? Bud Jones more than likely prior to 1990.

A couple other factors in play.

Burt sold out in 1985. Atlantic Standard wound up with the Nevada mold and possibly made the WK for Bud Jones 1985-1990.

Bud Jones sold the Nevada mold in 1990 to Bill Borland and Atlantic Standard made the Nevada molded chips for him 1990-93 or so when he died. I rule out the WK in those years as Borland used a different gold foil for hot stamping. Atlantic Standard bought the rights to the Nevada mold from Borlands estate.

Atlantic Standard sold out a couple years ago and the company moved to Nevada. I visited their plant. They made very few chips, mostly samples. They went broke and all of their molds including the Nevada mold wound up in my garage.

They sat there until last month when they were moved to the gambling Museum in Reno.

IMO, Burt Co made your chips and Bud Jones hot stamped them and sold them to WK."

He goes on a bit about the age and looks of the chips. I wish every other walk of life was as easy as this. I have been here 3 days and I have had a ton of returned emails from people who know an awful lot about this stuff. Very cool.

Ok off to mow the grass (Something I didn't get done yesterday cause I was on this site looking at all the great pics) - Good day -RFG

I am fortunate enough to not have sellers remorse yet as I have only been in the chipping ring for a short time and have only sold two sets one was a 1000 piece set of 14 g crap that I got with a table I bought and the other was a set of 1500 blank asm a molds I bought to label then realized I was never going to get it finished and may never be happy with the break down and/or the result when I was done.
