Got my set today - still needs to be dusted off and oiled, but I figured I'd throw up some pictures.
500 tourney / head's up set (to recreate the final game in the movie of course
)
200 - $25s - green w/dg peach
160 - $100s - black w/dg green
60 - $500s - purple w/dg arc yellow
60 - $1,000s - imperial blue w/ canary yellow
20 - $5,000s - charcoal w/blurple/gray
The majority of the set are the original colors from the movie. For the higher denoms. I always thought what made this set classy and unique was that it used deep, rich primary colors for the base chip color and lighter/brighter edge spots. So instead of the yellow 1k that's been done in previous group buys, I elected to go with imperial blue; after getting samples, I felt it was distinguishable enough from the purple to not be a problem with mixed stacks. The selection of the charcoal 5k chip has a bit of a goofy back story to it. When I first started hosting tourneys, I picked up a set of the china clay private cardroom chips. Starting stacks had 100/500/1k chips, and I had a couple of barrels of 5ks for color-ups later in the tourney, though in those days we usually had 10-12 guys playing, so we typically only had a handful in play. That 5k was a silver/grey chip with purple spots, and one of my regular players would do everything he could to get one, and would hold onto it until he absolutely had to play (it was often his last chip). It became a running joke that anytime he got one, everyone aimed to get that chip from him. A few years later, I graduated to my current set of PNYs (with newly acquired matsui plaques
), but he still gets ribbed by the others for the whole silver chip obsession. This set will supplement my
PNY tourney set for smaller, single table games, and I thought it would be a fun through back to include his silver & purple 5k chip...
Anyways, onto the pics:
