Does anyone have pics of OR actually have those WSOP style chips they were made by Matsui a few years back. I was told that there were a few different versions of them. Thanks.

Mike

I ran the most recent Matsui WSOP replica GB. I can't get at the pics here at work but can post a bunch of pics later.

Wow...Those are figgin awesome chips. I like the red that was used for 'TOURNAMENT'. I'm assuming that these do not come up for sale often. Any plans on doing another group-buy?

Wow those are some sweet looking chips! Thanks for the pics Link!

Thanks, LS... I think!

I really did *not* need to see those photos. <sigh> Chip envy strikes again.

Right there with you buddy!

I just hope the CPS chips turn out well so I can finally stop trying to figure out how I would get a WSOP set of chips lol

Hey Link,

Mind me asking how much did the chips cost per when you did the group buy?

CPS = ???

That question was kind of like a *bet* after the whole table *checked* on the previous round: You KNOW it's coming - it's just a matter of WHO is going to do it!

Thanks. I forgot about those China clays. I think they're *good* looking chips, but not *great*. I think they *are* a great buy, especially for someone who can't afford some of the Paulson, BCC, ASM, B&G, Chipco, and GOCC chip sets that we're blessed to own.

I admit to having a large 1,500+ set of China clay Pharaohs + plaques (bought for my son), and a small 500 chip set of Desert Palms (bought as a cheap experiment for micro cash denoms - I should get rid of these). They look pretty good (especially the Pharaohs), and have a nice feel. The rather poor quality control in colors, and the ridiculous variance in chip thicknesses is horrible, though. They STINK, too... something like some sort of kid's experiment with melting crayons gone horribly wrong. That stink NEVER goes away, either! :D Anyway, I'm done with China clays.

Please try not to speak of group buys for new Matsui chips, though... I beg of you!

Any chance you're looking to get rid of some of those china clay Pharaohs? I'm interested.

I'd be down for at least 1000 chips. LOL ;)
Have to find out what the min order and pricing is from Matsui. Maybe links_slayer can provide some info about it.
I'm sure that design is owned by someone so we would have to get permission or do our own.

If it weren't for the fact that they belong to my son, I'd be happy to sell them to you, Phil. If he decides he doesn't want them some day, I'll give you a holler. Any potential future sale, however, would be contingent upon you signing a waiver that would hold me non-liable for any injury, grief, suffering, and/or anguish incurred from the wave of stink hitting you when you first open the package! :D

I've never researched it myself, but I believe I've read that Matsui prefers not to deal with the home market, so that minimum order might be pretty large! Regarding the inlay design, there are lots of other designs that would look great on those Matsui chips, too!

Appreciate the response. Do all the chips from this particular set have a scent or was that limited to just your unlucky shipment? I ask because I'm specifically looking to purchase the cheapest set of Pharaohs I can find and apparently the china clay set is it.

20,000 I think was the min the last time I inquired. Not that hard to reach with 20-25 people. I added a link to their chip design tool in the Link Directory. ;)

After shipping (Matsui to me), artwork, and glitter fees (as applicable):

40mm no glitter inlay: $1.17
40mm glitter inlay: $1.34
43mm no glitter inlay: $1.23
43mm glitter inlay: $1.40

They were absolutely gorgeous chips but they were way too slippery for my tastes. If there was enough interest to get to another 10k chips I could get in touch with my contact at Matsui to see what kind of prices could be had. It's been mentioned at least a handful of times since this GB but it never really gains any steam after the initial interest.

There is no minimum to order from them - be prepared to pay though.

If you want a hefty discount, 10k was the magic number for this GB. No idea if that has changed though.

Good info. Thanks links! I inquired many years ago before they had Matsui America established.

Any issues with getting the same design or could use a different one?

In addition to the Pharaohs and Desert Palms, I also purchased some Milanos as a gift for a friend. All three of those China clay chip sets have the same strong crayon-like odor. The large differences in chip height are a far bigger problem, IMO.

For about the same money, or a little more, you can buy some nice used casino Paulson chips.

Thanks for the info. I'm not big on slippery chips, either. Looks like I'll stick with Bud Jones for my plastic chips for now!

I originally bought Milano's and those were really stinky too. If another group buy happened for the Matsui chips I would probably have to get a small set.

Bud Jones are slippery too. I played with them at the Borgota in AC. I had a sample set of Matsui chips and they were about the same to me.

Sent from my Galaxy Note 3.

Hmmm... the Bud Jones "regular" chips must be different than the roulettes, because I have a boatload of the roulettes, and they are definitely not slippery. They don't stick together like brand new Paulsons, but they're far less slippery than many casino worn Paulsons.

I'd have to check with Josh and J5 to see how they would want to handle using the artwork for another GB since there wouldn't be an artwork fee this time around.

I would be interested in knowing the answer to that. Thanks for checking.

Haven't checked yet. Are you interested in coordinating a group buy or just doing this as an individual purchase?

I'd be interested in coordinating a group buy if no one else wanted to do it. Either way, I'd be a buyer as well.

Once we get the word about the design, starting a thread to see how much interest there is would be a good idea.

No offense, but I don't think it's wise to let Tommy run such a group buy on these Matsui chips. I'm quite sure we'd end up with something that had an inlay with Tommy Terrible's likeness peering over big red letters proclaiming:

TERRIBLES'S
EURASIAN CASINO

:p

Someone should run another batch of these. They're fantastic! The colors are just top notch.
