What better way to commemorate my 1000th post than to shamelessly beg for money :)

July 8th of this year will be my 2-year cancer-free anniversary. To celebrate and to give a little back I will be doing another golf marathon fundraiser this year. All funds will go directly toward the University of Wisconsin Carbone Comprehensive Cancer Center's Head and Neck Cancer research fund. I have the opportunity to visit this center periodically throughout the year and am always amazed at the work being done to combat these awful cancers.

Last year I played 100 holes and raised $2,390. I plan on playing at least 100 holes again this year and hope to beat the $$ total from last year.

I would be most appreciative of any amount you would like to donate this year. No donation is too small!

There are a few options for donations:

1) Flat rate donation

2) Pledge a certain $$/hole played

3) Make me earn it and pledge:

1¢ / stroke
$5 / eagle
$1 / birdie
10¢ / par
$1 / hole-out from off the green
50¢ / 1-putt
25¢ / 2-putt

(These are just suggested amounts and would have resulted in a donation of just under $40 based on last years numbers. If you would like to pledge different amounts (e.g. $100 / hole-in-one...LOL :)) just let me know!)

I will also consider any other options that you crazy folks can come up with.

Here is the link to my fundraising page: http://connect.uwhealth.org/goto/joshua_stangl_2015

If you want option 1, you can make your donation at any time by using the link above.

If you want option 2 or 3, I will post the numbers within a day or two after the event and you can click the link above and make your donation.

Additionally, for every person that chooses option 3 I will pony up $1 per 3-putt+, $1 per double bogey+, and $1 per ball hit out of bounds or in the water.

FWIW, I am a 10.2 handicap and will be playing from the blue tees at my hometown course this year. I will do a rotation of the Red 9/White 9/Blue 9 until ~3pm when I will play the Blue 9 (due to leagues on the other 2) until I finish:

Red 9: Par 35, 3035 yards, 66.0/115 (rating/slope)
White 9: Par 35, 3077 yards, 68.2/120
Blue 9: Par 35, 3096 yards, 69.8/124

You da man. THANK YOU!

Option 3 is no problem. I just bark out my score and number of putts after each hole and my official scorekeeper (aka: wife) jots it down (along with water/OB balls as they happen), I transfer it into an Excel sheet I have set up (I'm huge nerd when it comes to tracking my golf stats.....) and boom - done. :)

In for $1 for each hole played, plus for each round you shoot under 40, $10 for each stroke under 40.

Let's see how you handle the pressure!

Donated $50 -- great cause, great guy. Wish I were Bill Gates...there would be a few more zeros. :) Have fun!

Thank you Shannon :) my motto with golf (and often in life) is "I I'm not having fun I only have myself to blame."

In for a #3

BTW do we have a links_strong thread here for pics or is it still only on the other site? I have a couple Colts cheerleaders that were nice enough to join the club ;)

Excellent - gotcha down. Thank you!! I don't think there is a dedicated thread here.

I'll throw in a small flat donation, I love the golf idea though.

Thank you very much!!

In for option 3. Add another $10 if a certain ball marker makes an appearance.

What a great thing to celebrate! Wish I could be there to play along with you, but my horrible game would throw you off lol. A couple weeks ago I had a decent front 9 (for me) going then the par 4 9th: hit driver after keeping it in bag all morning. Carried the water but wicked slice ricochets off garage doors and patio furniture, and rolls out 100 feet coming to rest just inside cart path. Sheepishly drive to ball, check for damage and homeowners but none of either. 160 yards to elevated green but two bunkers greenside on my line and ball above my feet on hill. Plan to hit 7 iron left where I can chip on. Skulled the shot dead on at pin low and hot, it bounces in front of bunkers, carries them, perfectly crashes thru the rough and rolls out 4 feet from the hole...where I 2-putt for par lol.

Hit 'em straight and get lucky!

^^ you would fit in perfectly with my regular golfing crew...lol - great story and thanks for pledging! p.s. club courage ball marker is a mainstay in my bag :)

I am in for option #3. If you want a cheering section I could do that also. Would be fun.

Thank you! :) Let's get in touch as the date gets closer - if you can make it for a quick meet n greet that would be sweet!

In for #2... $1.00 per hole + $10 per Eagle

Hit'm straight and long!

Gotcha down - many many thanks!

$35 donated. Good luck and have fun with your fundraising.

Very kind of you. Thank you!

If it's OK with you. I'll donate half of what the Mystery Box brings in.

Very generous of you sir. Thank you!!!
