Anybody out there run a regular game with a kill or a half kill? I have a ton of O8 players in my player pool and I'm going to start running fixed limit game. I thought it would be fun to do $2/$4 with a half kill. Rules tend to vary from room to room and I am curious if anybody has any preferences when running a game like this.

The only thing I could find online regarding the trigger stated that 10x the big bet was a standard pot size to qualify for a kill pot. $40 qualifier seems a little high to me. Should I set it at $20-$30? More action never hurts, right?:D

I'm also leaning towards the kill blind acting in turn.

We use a half kill. For $2/$4 the kill is triggered by a scoop with $20 or more in the pot (5x). For a kill to continue on the next hand, the minimum pot is $30 (also 5x). Kill blind acts in turn except for when the killer is UTG, in which UTG+1 is first to act.

+1 to Abby since we play in the same game. Wanted to comment more about that lanyard which reminds me of some awesome times!

I have hosted an 8/16 with a half-kill and we used 10x the BB as the qualifier (i.e. $160 in the pot scooped). I find 5x to be too small to activate the kill myself, but it varies from game to game. Do whatever you feel is best for your group.

This all sounds about in line with what I was thinking. Maybe I will start here and adjust up if kill pots are too frequent.

I had a blast when I was down there. It would be fun to play together again sometime!

We hate counting the pot. We run $2/4 with a half kill, if we see a flop and the pot is scooped then the kill is on.

Simplicity is often the best!;)

You should come down for WCB and then you'd get to play with us again and a bunch of the other PCFers!

The one I play in is $5/$10 with a full kill on a $60 scoop. They might as well just make it a $10/$20 game.

Also it pretty much sucks to scoop a pot and then have to put in 1/3 of your profits blind.

Thanks for all the replies! This is the kind of feedback I was looking for. I think I will give $30 qualifier a shot first and adjust from there.

Windy City Blowout? When is it this year?

July 23-25. Here's the thread: linky

Not only will you get to play with our crew and PCF/CT'ers from near and far, you'll be able to play with several custom sets.
