There is a local company, Rubber City Poker that has an RFID table. They ran for a couple of seasons then disappeared for a while.

Well they are back now and started streaming live poker again last week and put out a call asking for players.

Several people I know are playing on the show, it is actually live right now even.

When I was talking to some of them I found out the show I charging them $80 each to play on the show!! The game is only $1/3 $300 max buy-in. They are spending over 25% of a buy before a hand is dealt to be in this show.

The game is rake free, but it is only on for 5 hours.

I had thought about playing on the show until I found out about the cost.

So, I ask all of you, would you pay $80 to play on a show that may only be watched by a few hundred people on Twitch?

My personal cutoff would probably be about $25 since it is rake free and only 5 hours long for a $1/3 game.

It could be worth it if you are trying to build your brand and get your name out there.

Strictly for poker and profit it is obviously - EV

I’ve heard of seats in games costing $6 for every 1/2 hour instead of a rake. That’d equate to $60, which might be close to what would get paid in rake? Or is that a little high?

Do players have to pay extra or just sign up to be on the show?

I’m pretty sure Live at the Bike requires players to be subscribers to be on the show.
I’ve played on Stones live 4-5 times now. Totally free, you just have to sign up a few weeks in advance (sometimes I even get a text day before if a spot opens) and they even give you $10 in comps while playing. I’d pay for this, as the commentary is super valuable - Jonathan Little even commentated the first $1/2 stream I played. I’d probably pay up to $50 (maybe $100 for world class) for a $1/3 stream, if there were good commentators with valuable freedback.

Paying a seat fee is still different. You are only paying for the actual time you play. Being stuck $80 before you even start just sucks!

From what I read the the show is selling that you will get valuable commentary on your play lol. Most of these guys are not that smart that I want them breaking down my play.

They did have Bart Hansen play on the show a few years ago. Which was pretty cool.

I watched a few RCP games a couple of years ago. Commentary varies in quality, IIRC, but overall I enjoyed watching.

Currently 54 viewers. I hope they find a way to get some sponsors or adversitisers so the players can at least get a better price to pay.

I remember this stream now, I think Bart did a video covering his play. Seemed like a good action game, wouldn’t pay $80 though for $1/3

I would pay $80 for a 1-3 PLO game. NLH $8 a down is a bit much. If it was a super juicy game I might consider it, but it’s tough to consistently beat that take.

I think the truth is most rake is about 10-15 an hour/player in live casinos so it's not that far out of bounds compared to that. (4/hand * 20-30 hands divided by 9 players, not that unreasonable.)

The guys shooting this might be opening themselves up to legal jeopardy, however. I could see LE pursuing this as an opportunity to protect licensed games.
