I'm hosting a Heads up Tournament tonite. Since most players I play with like to chop when we get down to the final 3-4, I feel my Heads Up Game is a little rusty. Any strategy advice from the PCF community is appreciated!

Heads up is poker is all about villain reads. You will want to play the player (as trite as that sounds) as much as play your cards. Pay attention to how often you get folds from villain and when/why. Make life hard on him, forces as many decisions as you can on the other guy.

Aggression is essential. You could easily find the best plan is never call, your options are bet, check or fold.

When stack sizing gets small - say effective stacks less than 10 bb (for the shortest stack) the right approach is shove - check - fold and nothing else. There is a lot of research into the math here - go look it up. Your shove range is really wide.

Have fun -=- DrStrange

^^^^ 100% good advice. Nowhere to hide and no time to play timid heads up. Smart aggression is everything.

Thanks fellas! As always, the Dr. gives the best advice. Most of the guys are from my Thur night league, so I'm familiar with the way they play. I'm definitely going to review the math this afternoon.

BTW- Tonite we're playing for cash, bragging rights, & this;
