I'm about to start putting together my first set of non-dice chips. Going to try to get a mixed casino/ various Paulson cash set together.

Was thinking of starting with a rack of the green UB 25's and use them as quarters. I host .25/.50 so one rack usually gets us by. I figure they are A. Readily available if I want to add on B. Reasonably priced C. Pretty Minty D. Already have a 25 label but I can relabel them once the rest of the set materializes to match better.

I think my dream fracs right now would be the Motor City Quarters but it looks like those are pretty hard to come by. I really like the Terrible's .50s but would want to get them relabeled. I'd also consider anything BRIGHT (orange, pink etc) in maybe a solid hotstamp that I could scrape off.

Do you think greens as quarters would be tilting? It makes me cringe for some reason but I feel like after a couple hours it would feel ok.

The rest of my colors would be standard; going to get white 1's and red 5's. I've yet to need a 25 chip for my current game using a similar .25/1/5 breakdown that I'll be shooting for with my new set. I might get some black chips to use as 20's (makes more sense than 25's when everyone buys in with 20s) once the rest of the set is done.

Green would tilt me. Motor Citys come up every now and again. I'll be posting some when I get to the USA in July. I would also consider purple as a color for a cash quarter.

You seem to have a lot of what I want! Motor City's and Terrible's 1s? Waiting til July might be painful... lol

Have you considered just playing 50/50¢ blinds and trying to get some terribles?

I would consider it, BUT-

A. Some nights we play .25/.50, 50 max buy in. Others we play .25/.25. Depends on the average degeneracy level of those in attendance. I'm too OCD to play .50's as .25s on those nights, and I know people would be up in arms about it as well.

B. I get enough grief about playing .25/.25 as it is. People just can't seem to wrap their heads around it. I would get a lot of pushback on .50/.50, not playing "right" on our bigger nights and such.

I've considered getting a rack of the starbursts in a nice bright color. I have the dark blue suited speed cloth, and guys that have trouble keeping up with the action; so, I really want something that pops off that dark blue and is easy to scan and see where the action is at.

But, with the starbursts, I would still be having to explain to people multiple times that they are quarters. I've seen that some people have scraped the hotstamp off the solids to put some labels on; that route interests me.

Personally, I'd avoid the green quarters as fracs, it would always bug me. My advice, you should look at this set as a stop-gap since most of us end up building a bunch of them. Maybe go with cheap china clays or ceramics in the short term, hold out and scope the classifieds. I have some Paulson THC old hotstamps that can be used if you're interested (will sell 'em cheap). But they're tilting in a different way, 95 hot pink and 97 dark blue.

Oh man, those pinks would probably be a great start. Lol yes, 95 is pretty tilting. OCD alarms going off. How much for just the pinks?

I used green par a dice $25 chips for my quarters all the time, and not once did it bother me... And im pretty OCD when it comes to chips stuff...

Green is a not uncommon color for 50c chips in Cali sets (blue $1, yellow $5, black $20, white $100).
