Ok stupid newbie question...... reading up I see all of these abbreviations for chips, especially Paulsons. I was wondering if someone could tell me what Paulson's I have. I mostly have the kind seen below as the 100, and a bunch but not a lot like the 50 cent. The Indiana ones don't seem to have that outside ring beyond the hat. Would be nice to know so if I google chips, I can be more specific.
Thx
Chris

Let me try:

Black Chip:
Casino Aztar, Evansville Indiana, $100 Secondary, Paulson Reverse Hat and Cane (RHC) mold. Faux shaped inlay.

Pink Chip
Casino Aztar, Caruthersville Missouri, 50 cent Secondary (I believe), Paulson Top Hat and Cane (THC) mold, Long Cane Version (LCV) (also a little uncertain on that, they're hard to tell apart). True shaped inlay.

so RHC and THC LCV version ........ I won't bother asking about the different inlays and what that means, but at least I can narrow the search for like chips :) Thanks!

Pink chip is a THC SCV primary 2V-spotted with scallop inlay. The secondary Aztars are 212-spotted.

The black chip has a fake (ie faux) wheel inlay. It's just printed on the round inlay, not actually cut in that shape (like the pink chip scallop).

It's pretty hard for the casual observer to tell the difference between LCV and SCV. And some chips actually have SCV on one side and LCV on the other....

I went with the chip guide for the secondary/primary distinction on the half dollars. They were all sold before my time, I think.

As far as SCV/LCV, learning the difference can only cost you money. Try not to notice it and you'll be fine. ;)

Chip Guide doesn't identify primary/secondary 50c chips for Casino Aztar. If you are going by order shown, they also have the secondary $1 listed before the primary. $25 and $100 chips are listed primary/secondary. Dunno about the $5's, both of those were too ugly and worn to be of any interest (and you can hardly tell them apart, anyway).

And OP should listen to atomik regarding SCV/LCV. You start getting that attentive and you'll definitely lose weight (all from your wallet).

I've been around this place and CT for over a decade and I still get confused about all the abbreviations. Don't be afraid to ask questions -- there are lots of helpful people around. Best of luck & kiss your wallet good-bye. :)
