This happens...^^^^

Have no idea who the culprit is nor do I really care. What I do care about, and my main reason for posting, is that I've tried to remove this from the vinyl with very little success.

Mild Soap and water, and scrubbing haven't worked. Is this simply from moisture? Or possibly from a person drinking a hot beverage? Both might be possible given the game dynamics. Tips for removal?

Thanks

It does not appear to affect the texture. Is it sticky or slick? Stretch vinyl or the immobile plasticy all-weather stuff? Finally, (and this would be closing the barn doors after the horses got out) are cupholders present? I know (from experience) that the presence of a cupholder doesn't work for every player, but sometimes it's the best you can do, short of banning drinks at the table.

Things that have worked for various similar problems: vinegar, Goo-Gone, WD-40. Just a little on a cloth.

Plenty floating around. Lol

Is that Whisper Vinyl? I did a little digging and found these instructions published by several companies including Hon: link

I'm not so sure about the third one, though.

I hope you're able to get this mark out.

Below is the list in abby99's link. I'd start with Fantastik or 409, and I'd definitely try vinegar and goo-gone before resorting to bleach.

Step 1: For light soiling, a solution of 10% household liquid dish soap in warm water, applied with a soft, damp cloth.

Step 2: For heavy soiling, dampen a soft, white cloth with a one-to-one (1:1) solution of Fantastik spray cleaner/water
or Formula 409 all-purpose spray/water.

Step 3: For more difficult stains, dampen a soft, white cloth with a solution of household bleach (10% bleach/90%
water). Rub gently. Rinse with a water-dampened cloth to remove bleach concentration.

Do not use alcohol-based cleaners with this product.

This has me the most concerned. I wonder if the culprit was drinking a high proof cocktail that "melted" or otherwise burned/damaged the fabric. If that be the case, methinks the damage is not going to clean up.

Agreed... this looked like a heat burn to me at first, but alcohol makes a lot of sense. Maybe a little rum spill got on the bottom of a glass, which got on the rail. Or someone poured shots, and it got on the bar, which got on the bottom of someone else's glass. The "culprit" at the table may have even been drinking innocent icewater.

Good reason to avoid this particular sort of rail material for a gaming table with adult drinks.

If not burned, I'd try an automotive vinyl cleaner/protector. Try Armor All Natural Finish detailer protectant. No shine, no residue cleaner. I use it on my rail and in my truck.

I didn't see anyone drinking any type of hard liquor the whole weekend so I doubt that would be the case, but I may be wrong and I just didn't notice anyone drinking anything other than beer/pop/water.

Well that really sucks. Gee whiz, I think I heard plenty of announcements over the weekend regarding food & beverages not allowed on the tables. #WTF?

Could this be from a tablet of phone? Some devices can get pretty warm when running a game or intensive app.

Is it white of shiny? If it's white, it's gunk. If it's shiny, it's a change in the composition of the vinyl itself (probably from heat) and you won't be able to fix it.

awesome, never thought to use tv trays....I am building a raised rail, dedicated dealer table. I am making it without cupholders because i hate drinks on a poker table.
I have been thinking of making some drink/food carts with wheels but hell, its way cheaper to get the trays.

He's either busy playing poker or cleaning the house. 50/50.
