OK, first of all this build was specifically to try out a design that uses only 2 sheet of ply on a LIT RAIL table, so if you have nothing good to say, SHUT YOUR TRAP, just kidding, all comments are welcome.

I am not going to show how I did it, YET, but I will inform you of some of the things I ran into on this build.

First off I spent about $150 on this Build, I had some folding legs in my garage along with the defuser material.

$0 for 2 sheets of ply wood - I wished I had bought ply (Good Ply)
$10 for the outer edge 1/8" ply
$30 for the Lights
$75 for felt, padding, and vinyl - On a 40% off sale at poker N stuff.
$30 for hardware and paint

There is a box at the bottom that is only there to straighten the warped ply wood (don't buy crap wood, even if its free).
The felt I will try to Iron out, if you get felt folded I suggest unfolding ironing and rolling it up until you use it....

Enjoy:

Yes I plan on making Legs for it.

Here is a link to a slide show of the build:

I have updated the OP with a link to a slide show of the BUILD, there are a few pictures, (I mean quite a few) enjoy.

Very nice work. I appreciate your approach - a little ingenuity replaced a lot of material cost.

Did you steam the 1/8" ply, or otherwise treat it, prior to bending and applying it? And how did you fasten it?

holy crap. for 1450 thats a pretty sweet ass table
For 1450, I'm not sure how sweet-ass this would be. ;)

But for 150, it is extremely sweet-ass!

Great build pix- and a nice design for a budget-conscious build. Well done.

I did not steam the 1/8", I use wood glue and staples to fasten the FIRST layer to the defuser/rail supports and then used spray adhesive for the last layer (I did use a couple of staples near the seams).

Nice build. I'd suggest the creases in the SSC have less to do with ironing, than it being properly stretched onto the play surface. I'd get all the wrinkles out by simply pulling it taught, then the stapling actually snugged it up even more.

Love this build otherwise.

Thank you.
The cheep ply I used being warped was a factor also, also the SSC was folded for a while. The warp in the wood is down, I applied the SSC, it looked great, except the creases from it being folded, then when I bolted it down to the table the ply flattened and relaxed the cloth....This is why I will not get cheep wood again even if its free... ;)

IMO cheap wood is ok for the rail and other hidden small pieces (like your risers).. but I always like to use a sheet of high quality hardwood plywood for the main table surface.

^^^ Agreed, I only used the FREE stuff because it was a Proto type to proof out the design.

Bought a RGB (multicolor) setup on eBay that was selectable from 5-10m. Came with the correct power supply, has a remote, is dim able, and was relatively cheap $43 shipped for 6m. Search around. I am at work and can't find the link right now.

It's one of those things too easy to find. No way to tell which ones will look good, be easy to work with or whatever.

RGB LED Lights I ordered off eBay. Allows you to select the options you want, length, number of LEDs per section, waterproof, etc... It's important to get the right power supply for the number of LED's youre getting. If you add on, you'll need a bigger power unit.

Nice build! I just finished a raised lighted table myself. It's harder and more time consuming than most people might expect, but so worth it in the end :)

Thank you, it is time consuming, but this was a lit rail prototype to see if my 2 sheet ply design works.

I have some more Ideas to make the build go faster and maybe a little more simplified, on my next build I will get a more accurate build time and cost.
But first I will finish this by making the legs, then selling this one so I can make two more, one lit rail for a friend and the other no raised rail and no lights but a custom cloth from @T_Chan.

I also want to make a few more tables (non lit/raised rail) for the Tournaments that I put together for the American Cancer Society (Relay For Life) once a year.
