Hi all,

I'm new to the forum. I live in Bergen County, NJ. I'm an on-again-off-again player (mostly cash games) with a cheap-o set of chips now, but I'm looking to pick up a better set in the near future. I've got my eye on the Archetype ceramics. I just ordered the sample set yesterday.

Anyone have any helpful thoughts about the Archetypes?

Is Montclair in BC? :sneaky:

Welcome to the Forum! A great bunch of people on the Forum I'm close by from Middlesex County. Go mostly to the Sands now, but PARX once in a while too.

HA! You're right, it's not in Bergen, it's in Essex County. What a dunce!!! Please excuse the gaff, I lived in Jersey City until very recently.

You know towns like Short Hills and probably Montclair want to secede from Essex, but they are stuck. And LOL BTW isn't Jersey City in Hudson?

Welcome! I'm new to the forum as well. I just got the archeytpe set from another chipper here and I absolutely love them so far. I had some cheaper Monte Carlo's for the longest time and everytime we play at casino its paulsons. I love the archetype feel and sound. Can't beat the Paulson's but archetype are my favorite non paulson. I had a sample of venerati's and went with Archetype instead. Hope you like them and good luck!

Welcome!

Did you ever get an Archetype set?

I've got an Archetype set 3/4 completed ( still looking for qty. 300 of 50c pieces for our 0.50/1.00 games ) that we play with at times.

I've got a few observations:

-- They weigh nice and heavy in your hand, much more that Nevada Jacks style. Different composition
-- They have a satisfying, unique, glassy-ceramic sound when shuffling or chucking
-- Print on them is high quality
-- I got mine used; over time, some of the ink bleeds in a little bit
-- Dropped two on my buddy's marble tile floor once, and they both chipped. One a little bit, one a lot. C'est la vie

I haven't yet. I've been pretty diligent about looking on PCF and eBay for folks selling them, but no luck yet. There were a few sales that happened at about the time I joined PCF and before I knew what I wanted. I also wouldn't buy them new, too expensive.

I did just pick up a small cash set of casino-used Chipcos that I think I like a lot. The price was right in any event. Still need fracs tho.

I know what you mean! $1.09/chip is a bit steep. And for 1000+ they only give a measly 10% discount! Otherwise I'd be orchestrating a small multi-way group buy or something if we could get 25% off at qtys of like, 5000, but I doubt they would agree to it.

Good luck on your search.

Thanks bud, you too!
