Okay so I’ve been a PCF member for close to a month (Lol I know, Newbie). Seeing all the expensive chip collections many of you have. My question, where do you store these very valuable chips? Safe? Lock box? Garage racks? Under the bed? (Where I currently have mine. However, I do own a pretty large heavy duty safe. Does anyone out there store chips in a safe? Just asking cause by some of the pics PCF members have posted they have 10’s of thousands of dollars invested in chips, whether they were bought years ago cheap or recently at more expensive prices, they’re still worth $1,000’s!

I had stored my chips in my garage for years. Just in a normal-ish stand up set of drawers. I felt very uneasy in doing this after I saw a few break ins. I moved my entire collection up to my den inside my house. I still have them stored in the drawers, but I also use FAT .50 cal ammo boxes. There are kits you can get to put locks on them.

Mine live in one of these.......

That’s pretty cool. Post a pic I’d like to see that. I have some ammo cans that I may do that too.

Hoarder problems. I don’t have em. Mostly because I can’t afford it, I suppose. But I think my budget matches my philosophy - own the best chips I can afford, but only the ones I’m gonna play. So I stick a thousand dollar case under this chair, a two thousand dollar case under that chair - whatever.
I admire the huge valuable collections some people have, but good for them. Collections I need to keep inventory of, and take out a rider on my insurance for? It’s not for me.

Here’s the thing....chips are heavy and bulky and 99% of them are worth next to nothing. If someone actually stole them, it would be an inside job and you would have a better chance of figuring it out. Someone would have to have knowledge of their worth at some point. If they tried to move them, they would never get past us out here.

Never thought of it that way. I completely agree with that logic. I guess the idea that I know the value of something kinda makes me paranoid about someone taking it. Thanks for the insight.

That’s the way I picture the inside of one of those roller mechanics tool boxes to look like (like Forty4’s pic). I may borrow that idea when my chip collection gets to that point.
It’s an old pic (and I’m too lazy to walk downstairs to take one)...

Here is the cabinet I (and a few other members) have used. You can find it on eBay for about $200 shipped I think. Each drawer holds 1200, or 1400 if you use the 25/row 4 row racks. The tray on top was added after.

That’s great! Thanks for the info Krafticus! I will definitely go with that idea.

This has turned out to be a great thread! Thanks to all who’ve shown me their storage methods. One common trend I’ve noticed is that not many of you store all your chips in 300/500/750 or 1000 chip cases.

I definitely prefer the methods posted on this thread over a 6 foot stack of poker chip cases. Not to mention the money I’ll save on those cases. Which means more money for chips (y)(y)
