My buddy John, who is a relative poker newbie, started playing a couple years ago, maybe going to the casino every few months, and playing at my place every so often.. Today he asked if I wanted to go to the casino, but I was working. Well shortly after lunch, he calls me shouting and screaming that he just hit the bad beat jackpot. Granted, it’s not as much is it normally is, but my buddy wound up winning $24,000.

Apparently he was short stacked with $60 and had pocket aces. Two players were leaving after this hand, thus killing the game, so it’s their last hand. He and another player see the flop after he calls Johns $10 open. The table is 5-handed. The flop comes out KJK, the turn is a J, and the river is an Ace. John and the other guy get it all in, and the other guy has KK to win the hand, the qualifier is Aces full of kings beat by quads or better. .

Winning hand gets 12k, and table share was 8k each.

Crazy. Happy for my poker newbie buddy.

I’ve been trying for years to even be in the poker room when it hits... just a taste... but to no avail, lol

My only experience was two years ago in Vegas at the Flamingo, early morning after an all nite session, I was at a table with a bad beat but not nearly that much money. I got $150 for being at table, hand loser got $2K, hand winner got $599. Quads lost to a straight flush.

Nice

He's probably hooked for life now!!!

I have had a table share of twobad beats since I started playing...... one was for about 3500.... straight flush over quads

The other was a table share of a 205000 bad beat. The table was 6 handed and my share was just over 20k

Both in the last 3 years

Holy moly!!!
I feel very inadequate about my bad beat experience which pales in comparison to yours!

Awesome! Always so jealous of people that have won anything in a casino. I've never gotten a dime back of a promo dollar. I hope one of these years that happens, but if not I guess I'll keep playing anyways

I won’t hold my breath! But I do think John should cover our next trip to Vegas. Lol!

That’s what I told him! Lol.

I also said this has the erase the butt hurt from the K4 hand from the Flamingo (where he misread his cards).

He also has spousal approval to go play cards whenever he wants. Apparently he was shopping for her online, before even leaving the casino, lol... smart man

Um? The "winning hand" (KK) got 12k? Or the hand that won the BBJ (AA) got 12k.

Did he put it on black on the way out the door to double it up to 24k?

Smart man indeed.

I had a buddy who always took the kids out for donuts the day after he won money at poker. His kids started asking to go out for donuts even if he lost, and he obliged. Then the kids started asking mom if dad could play poker that night so they could get donuts the next day. That is a win right there.

.

Generally, the loser of the hand gets the biggest bad beat payout, the winner of the hand gets half of that. The balance of the money is split up among other players at the table.
