Just curious - when playing home games, does anyone play Omaha Hi-Lo without the "qualifying hand" restrictions in place for the lo hand? In other words, does anyone play where there is always two winning hands? Or does everyone pretty much play with the 8-high restriction in place (ignoring straights/flushes, of course)?

We play with an 8 qualifier.

We also play Inverse Omaha, another hi-lo game. There is no qualifier for the low, and a 3-of-a-kind qualifier for high. I wouldn't want to play it all night, but a few rounds of IO are a nice addition to a mixed game.

Interesting

I've played double board PLO8 Full monty..........not really poker, just lotto gambling shit.

What does Full Monty mean, in the poker definition? Best overall high and best overall low, instead of best high and best low on each board?

i've never play omaha with no qualifier, but stud hi/lo no qualifier is a semi-common home game around here and was approved for NJ casinos as well a few years back now.

Isn't that basically split-pot stud/razz ? I suppose you could do the same with omaha and call it PLOR.

I've been wanting to try a split-pot omaha variation where best omaha high hand splits with the best badugi hand. Makes low un-suited hole cards more valuable... or does it?

Omahugi FTW! This game is occasionally included in our rotation as a limit game.

I played it for the first, and probably last time on New Years Day.

Its Double Board PLO8 with only two winners (Hi and Low). You play connectors, reach around, and standard board. Whatever makes you the best high hand and best low hand.

Crazy gambling game

We play Omaha Hi-Lo using the 8-or-better qualifier for a low hand. We also play with a half-kill.

We usually play 5/10 limits, and to qualify for a half-kill, the pot must be at least $60. So, if someone scoops both High and Low, or there is no Low that hand, and there's a $60+ pot, the next hand is played at 8/16 limits.

Omahugi is fun. I also like the stampler game where if there is no low qualifer, then high spade in the hole gets half the pot.

Ah, yes, Stampler. It gets called a lot in our dealer's choice games. We sometimes play it with 5 cards down, or even 6 cards (rarely).

I have a love-hate relationship with Stampler. Mostly love, I guess.

What chips do you use for this?

For Omahugi (or OMadugi) do you play your Badugi hand based on just your 4 hole cards, or do you include the community cards as well.

This is the way we play it, based on Pfapfap's cards (from 2+2):

Final Hands: 2 from Individual, 3 from Community (Omaha)
2 from Individual, 2 from Community (Badugi)
Split Pot: High hand (Omaha)
Lowest unique 4 ranks & suits (Badugi)

Here's a game where the Badugi hand is only in the down cards:

Badugaha
Blinds * Split Pot * 8 Players Max
Each player is dealt four individual cards down. Small bet. Flop. Small bet. Turn. Each player can draw up to two cards. Big Bet. River. Each player can draw one card. Big bet.
Final Hands: 2 from Individual, 3 from Community (Omaha)
4 from Individual (Badugi)
Split Pot: Omaha (high) / Lowest unique 4 ranks & suits (Badugi)

We play "Shuck". It's a stud variant with a mandatory hi-lo split (no qualifier). Played No Limit and with the option to pitch one card at the end for $5. Pitch an up card for another up card and a down for a down. It's a form of insanity.
