Can't make out the mold, but if these are clay as he mentioned, $20 is an absolute steal, as the cases alone are $20+

So far from Spokane....wonder what these are?!

It’s not my imagination-there are tons of chips for sale in the state of Washington —the question is why?

Here in Michigan we seem to be climbing all over each other scrambling for the occasional sale.

I asked my brother who lives close by to go pick these up....whether he will have time or not is another issue.

$20 gamble seems worth it here

Anyone with a liquor license can also open a casino in Washington. Hence every bowling alley and bingo parlor throws in a small casino.

Yeah I'm like 4th in line. Hope somebody gets some chips that they can use!

Looking into the WA real estate and small business market as I type. :D

I emailed the guy right after his post went up this morning and got this response a little while ago:

"Seems everyone in there uncle wants these chips. had someone from Texas want me to mail them to him lol. I am going to do some more research on them and see what price I should actually put."

and then

"sorry I had some expert advice and I am going to resell them for 600 dollars. sorry. There are 1197 chips in this collection. and they are the old school Loyal Order of the Moose chips."

The same thing is happening here as what thechiproom sales are experiencing. The hunt has gotten too big. Too many people trying to find a great deal on chips, searching countrywide in the hopes of doing so. Don't get me wrong, I am not condemning this as I have been doing it for over 10 years now, and have found some insane stuff. However, so many people are actively pursuing it these days that we are shooting ourselves in the foot.

What do you expect a seller to say when contacted by someone 1000 miles away offering to buy their chips and pay to have them shipped? If he gets more than one inquiry, no one is getting a deal on the chips.

It baffles me that people post anything regarding any sort of craigslist (or any other online) ad at any time, period. There simply is no need for it. I understand the intent is to be nice, but there are plenty of people out there searching all of North America and Europe that literally nothing is going to slip through the cracks. In fact, more harm is being done because those that are putting in the hours sifting through all the garbage are now having to compete with people who swoop in, doing absolutely nothing to find the chips after being tipped off here. I was one of them in this case as noted above. It is my belief that those that do the work should get the prize. If you do the work and are unsuccessful, someone else will be around shortly.

50c each for old used circle square mold chips is on the high side.
Yeah, good luck with the $600 price. Be lucky to get $200 imo, and that likely only from a Moose who actually played with them at one point.

Couldn't agree more.

I see your point.

I am assuming these get posted after the poster can't close the deal (or doesn't want to go through the trouble of trying). And although it might be done in good spirit, some silent stalker gets the information too and can botch the deal.

Maybe check the PCF member locations thread for a local and send them a PM if they are remotely active.

So... your argument is that this forum (eBay/craigslist links) shouldn't exist.. because you may lose a few bargains. The people who read this forum and pick up a tip, on the other hand, gain a bargain (like I did). In my case I wasn't local, and had to negotiate with a completely unknown seller to make the shipment happen etc. It all worked out, but it still took work and I took the risks sending cash to a stranger etc.

In this particular case someone must have tipped the seller off, and the price went up. I wouldn't say that's the norm, though. This forum serves a useful purpose imho.

I understand that we are shooting ourselves in the foot in some cases, but the effort that many of us put into searching for these deals does benefit the community. I only publicly post about half of the deals I find, the others via PM to specific local PCF folks who I know would appreciate the heads up.

Below is an example of a deal where you benefitted directly from the tip, and there are plenty others where PCF members were tipped off about a Craigslist deal and wouldn't have found cheap chips otherwise.

Of course there are examples where we fuck things up for ourselves, but there are countless more where grateful people got some benefit.

While I did recently benefit from a similar posting (similar chips and chip count, although not near as slick a deal), it does seem like PCF is shooting itself in the foot here. I'm frankly somewhat surprised that my deal even went through, given that I know the seller received multiple messages. I think I was just lucky. I'm certainly happy and grateful that the post was made and that I could be the benefactor.

I prefer the idea of local folks getting a good shot at picking up these deals when they arise, but I don't know how that could be managed well on the forum. Personally I am not very willing to try to get a Craigslist deal unless I can pick it up myself, too much work and too risky.

Is it just me or is this all just a bit fishy?

How does some one who knows nothing about these chips suddenly know everything about them, their potential value, what they're made of, etc.? No chipper would offer that info when trying to score a deal. How would that conversation go? ... "Hey - those chips are dope - made of clay - worth about 50x what you're selling them for to collectors - trust me, I'm an expert - can I please give you $1,200 instead?"

Methinks we have a saboteur on board.
